**** Original Starcraft 2 Thread ****

Starcraft II is the only game I am actually looking forward to this year. I am dying to get my hands on a beta key but have had no luck yet :(

I have seen that in America if you pre-order from Amazon.com or Gamestop you automatically get a free beta key. I was wondering if there is a similar offer going in the UK? Surely if Amazon.co.uk did this they would make a fortune.

I understand that, and its fair enough tbh, but it is far from your standard beta - It feels very complete.

I just received my 2nd key from Gamestop lol.. Sorted out a friend with it, if any others come through, Ill put them here.

If you're concerned about getting an Eu key, don't be - I ordered off US Gamestop and received 2x Keys, both of which activated as Eu when put in my existing battle.net account and my friends. Or, if you just mean the time to ship to you on release.. Well, yeah, that will be a bit annoying.

I'm also wondering if the retail code will put me in the US territories when I activate it..
 
Indeed I am more concerd about the time it will take to ship once the game is actually out + the unknown of the retail code putting you in US territories.

Surely there must be a UK game seller with this deal?

Why, you will be able to download the game i expect much like you have to download it now. Personally id rather not have a dvd/cd. Its a waste of space

Maybe if they just sent a small pack with artwork and some development stuff. That would be nicer than having a dvd that gets scratched
 
Judging from how the beta key from GameStop acted with me, it looks like the keys just activate to whatever territory the Battle.net account is registered to. I imagine it will be the same with retail.
 
Hmm maybe I should order from gamestop then. I wonder if it is possible for gamestop to give a retail key instead of sending me the disk and then I simply download the game from blizzard or something?

Any ideas?
 
If you order from gamestop us can you cancel the order when its realised over here so I can buy it somewhere local? its a right scam $14.99 shipping on top

they'll give you a code after a day then you wont be able to cancel.
