**** Original Starcraft 2 Thread ****

That's awesome. It would seem that the community is a lot more friendlier than the communities I'm used too (winning a duel game usually results in a lot of swearing and a disconnect in most games.. mentioning no game names :))

I wont lie, I hate working through single player campaigns! I'd rather get stuck in online, and completely ignore the single player aspect. Maybe that's not the right way to go. How big is the campaign? Maybe I should just work through it on easy mode to get a little experience so I know what's going on!

Haha don't worry there's still plenty of ****** ***** ** **** players out there, but it's a far more friendly environment in general than most other multiplayer games I've played.

Yea honestly I've never quite understood why people dont like SP. I get it if it's a terrible story but..it's half the point of the game surely :D. SP is ~25 missions iirc of varying length.

Fair enough though, if you want to just get stuck in start reading on liquipedia and play some games vs the AI. Not sure if you've seen it yet but Day9 has some pretty good videos for basic mechanics over at day9tv. dApollo also posted some 'from the beginning' videos on youtube describing some of the very very basics and building up to basic strategy and tactics, so you may have some success watching those.

If you just want to jump straight in I'd definitely suggest having a watch and practicing some of the basics vs AI, then taking full advantage of your 50 practice games (slower games which have no bearing on ladder ranking) before joining the main ladder in full. :)

Thank you so much for the help :D Great advice! I'll do just that.

Im kinda convinced to play the campaign, even if it's just for the first bunch of missions or whatever. I've no plans this weekend so I might just geek it up on SC2 :]

Campaign
challenges
watch dapollos videos
day9 - hotkeys, mechanics etc
play a couple dozen 2v2, 3v3 or 4v4 games
watch filtersc's guides

in that order :). After you've done/watched those, you should have a decent idea of what you're doing. Start doing 1v1 after you're comfortable with the basics from team games. Day9's daily videos are good if you want to learn about a particular style or build as he goes into quite a lot of depth

Watch Day9's newie tuesday videos
Don't bother with team games they're just cheese fests mostly or they'll promote terribly play
watch filtersc's videos
Get stuck in ladder and find a friend to do customs with.

I think I might know what is stopping the download. I removed the game completely and it doesn't stat to patch it from the word go.

I am using the buildings free public wifi and think there is something setup on the router to block the download from starting. Could I get around it by using a VPN service or if there is a way of downloading all the latest content from another source (just as long as it doesnt use the blizzard updater service)

When I run SC2 downloader I get an error 'could not connect to the tracker!'

edit - i've just restored my machine from image so only need 1.4.4 or 1.5 content now
I have downloaded sc2-1.4.4-enGB.exe but it says the update does not need to be applied. Does this mean its trying to update to 1.5.0?

hmm, maybe not my router, might just be the updater is screwed in general at the moment. Lots of people getting the same as me

"1.4.4 just wont work it wont even begin downloading. Patch screen comes and then hangs around for a bit and then automatically closes down. CAN ANYONE HELP ME PLEASE?"

I hope that MaNa will perform against these Korean players, but it would be extremely hard to do it. But he almost won his bo5 vs TaeJa so there is a chance of getting a good result in this tournament.

I highly doubt Mana is going to survive MC. Stranger things have happened though!

Yay no EG scrubs in the bracket XD

Some great banter from the casters between game on the Asus ROG tonight. Having TLO cast is brilliant imo. :)

Looking forward to tomorrows games, shame i'm working all day though. :(

Ye i know, but he did won with him in the past so there is a chance.

I don't know how Moon is playing in SC2, just remember him, when he was owning in WC3. Anyway it's kinda good bracket for MaNa, but he must win vs MC.

man.... HIS must be chuffed they're getting free advertising anyone says the word his on these forums.... stupid change.

OT: nice to see some tournament discussion. Haven't been following personally as I've been busy, any particularly noteworthy upsets or plays?

-_- My TvT blows ass.

Started playing against GMs last night after 600 played games this season (according to the 1.5 patch lol) and I keep finding Terrans that rape me until I cry. T_T

Seems like you're downloading the US patch for some reason.

Do this and it might work.

Libraries/Documents/Starcraft/Variables.txt

Change the values of localeidassets and localeiddata to enGB.

Save the changes then retry.

GMs, wow nice one. How do they keep raping you? (what builds/strats)

edit: about the manufacturer hyperlinks, look in your user cp, edit options, thread display options and you can turn them off
