Can i place my pylon next to an opponents pylon

Yes. But your 'power field' wont block his. So you can put your pylon there and build gateways until the entire area's full if you like, but it wont be as good a defence as more..standard methods.

Not that i can talk, we got totally wrecked by a cannon rush in teamgames tonight :D..silly simultaneous ling runbys and 4gates :(

I hate cannon rushes. I always moan when my team mates gets cannon rushed and dont scout them but then get rushed myself. oops

It's different in teamgames, depending on the map you've got to pay attention to 4 opponents by yourself so it's easy to get blindsided especially when they're all about the rushes.

1s is a different story where it's your own damn fault that you didn't scout XD

after a long absence from this thread I'M BACK BEACHES

i was wondering, does anyone know who are the beta keys being given out to? only casters and pro players, or are regular nubs like ourselves being given a few? from what i've seen (psystarcraft has been really good with uploaing his HotS laddering) the game looks ok but there are a lot of issues.

- mech in TvP just seems stupid since tanks are still useless. without tanks mech just feels too similar to bio
- warhound and swarm host as well as blinding cloud are hella OP
- tempest is pointless
- widow mines 2 supply and require armoury... seriously? they suck
- still no sign of reapers

However I do like the automining at the start and the worker saturation displays. I predict that Kamwah will disagree, but I often get lag at the start of a game and it'll be nice not to be put at the disadvantage anymore. The saturation display doesn't make much of a difference as anyone above platinum would regularly box and count their workers anyway, but it'll help out the bronzies and means fewer pointless actions.

The problem remains however that blizzard should be making unit control require more attention and skill rather than less. All these new a-move units like the warhound kinda ruin the fun of watching the game. Basically IMO it's fine for them to make macroing easier but only if they make microing harder (and NECESSARY).

Regular people are getting in but it seems to be that a lot of pros were pulled in due to some unfair bias and the press they get from pros streaming it.

The first balance patche was yesterday nerfing war hounds, swarm hosts and the oracles cloak timer.

At the moment I can say that the overall balance is worse than the days of rax before depot. They've not actually increased the skill cap anywhere and just made it seem like C&C with its really gimmicky units (not surprised seeing as I'm sure that Browder came from C&C games)

I actually don't care about the auto-mine/split and am not sure what everyone is crying about it for. It only affects your skill level slightly below plat probably and it's not enough to move you up a league. If you can't split your workers at the start cos you're bad then this isn't going to help in any way XD

From what i have seen myself ( not having played the beta though)
The tempest seems to be only useful in a few isolated role / situations rather than a new core unit.
The oracle's seem ok but I feel entomb is not really what toss needed for harassment.

some of the mothership core functions look ok but I have heard from some people that mass recall is pretty broken but not sure

Takes loads of energy though so not exactly spammable. I've always found it hard to do drops as protos, getting to the point of upgrading the warp prism I'm usually ready for a big push so I usually just go for the win instead. Having earlier attacks on third bases, cutting zerg macro down without potentially losing my entire expensive army sounds like something the protoss could do with.
