I thought that too but Plat is as high as you can go from placement matches, so a lot of reasonable players placed in Gold and Plat. I ended up in Gold but was promoted to Plat after about 6 games.

I've been placed in Diamond before (after the 5 placement matches, not the one match when it's a new season).

plat is definitely not the highest you can go from placements.

It all depends who you get matched against and who is searching for a game at the time.

You could get paired with people who have Masters MMR

My friend bought Heart of the swarm collecters edition but didn't realise it was an expansion and didn't want to buy the original game.

When he installed and put in the serial it simply said he does not have starcraft 2 installed or something. Has he used his serial code if he wishes to sell it, anyone know?

If he has redeemed the key, it will show up online at battle.net under the games he is allowed to play. Tell him to go online and have a look.

But he won't be allowed to play HotS if he doesn't have WoL, so I'm guessing it wouldn't show anything?

I'd contact Blizzard and ask them about it tbh. Seems weird caring enough to buy the collector's edition and not wanting to buy the main game

Doubt it's possible.

Just get him to buy the original, it's like £10 in GAME and not much more from Battle.net

Teamgames mean absolutely nothing.

I was Masters in teamgames before I even left Silver in 1v1s when I first started playing.

Wow... Just playing on the ladder, you notice how much people's leagues have been inflated by the influx of less experienced players (or 'noobs')... Playing people in Platinum and they're really bad... Maybe low gold kind of level from Wings of Liberty
