**** Original Starcraft 2 Thread ****

Went to G3 in London yesterday to watch the finals, which has seriously rekindled my love for this game!... Anybody still playing competitively that fancies playing some 1v1's? Or even in a clan that has a nice group of people!?

Used to be high ranked masters but alas, no longer. Currently mid ranked Platinum!

Does anyone watch the IEM games on twitch or youtube? I find the ESL coverage pretty good. Are there any other good sources of current high level games?

I've ben out of touch with the scene for some time now but MLG is kinda similar I suppose.

If you want to just watch high level gamers though you can always check out the streams available on Teamliquid.net (along the right hand side)

I still play regularly, only got into it properly at the end of last year though. Watched a fair few tournaments before that. Currently only in high gold as Zerg with the occasional terran play. Don't have the time to really play enough to get higher than that.

My Zerg is probably at plat level at the moment but my Terran is probs gold if you wanted a few games :)

Campaign is probably the best thing to stick to until you've completed it. It teaches you the basics of Terran, plus its an awesome campaign :)

Then from there you can go into Multiplayer, best to focus on one race for the time being and then go with that. There's a few websites that have beginners guides etc....
My missus found this really helpful when she started playing :)

Literally a step by step of everything multiplayer (some maybe even too basic!) but its good to understand how and why you do things rather than just being told X, Y, Z is the best and that's that!

My best tip though, use hotkeys for as many things as possible, and avoid clicking buttons ;)

Don't play, still watch. IEM has been good, some awesome games yesterday, and a pretty big spectacle in Flash vs MC even though it was only a group game. In fact I think they play each other again today.

This game was probably the highlight of the day though

Just discovered the game and trying to work out how to get into it - been watching some of the Championship videos.... the speed they move at is crazy!

Any tips for a noob?

Play the campaigns to get used to the general game. StarCraft master in the arcade is good to learn the next step in micro/macro skills.

Overall, learning build orders, timings and practice from there. There are a load of guides on youtube although I'm not sure how up to date they are (New units added in HoTS along with always changing nerfs and buffs on units)

I recently purchased this game and tried a few matches online with the matchmaking service. All the people I played against had played hundreds and in some cases thousands of games. This seems odd as I had zero chance of winning and I thought I would be pitted against people of similar skill. This has put me off playing online again as there seems no point if I am going to be playing pros and I am just a lowly noob.
