**** Original Starcraft 2 Thread ****

I'd be up for some team games later. Not played in a while and 1v1s just stress me out. Add Tune#2388 on battletag because I'll probably forget to log in but I'm usually on hearthstone anyway.

I really need to get into this game again, played in season 1 to Diamond league then quit and recently to Platinum league a few months ago. I used to do 1v1 but team games seem allot less stressful and more "fun".

I can't remember any of the hotkey's but want to give it a go, if anyone wants some friendly team games lemme know :)

I've only just got back into playing.

What's with the MMR decay? When I last played WoL I was Plat, Dia for a brief spell. Now I'm stuck in Silver. Winning more than 50% in Silver but can't seem to get out. Same for Teams, was all Dia before, now all Bronze lol.

Still enjoying it though. Lower leagues are so aggressive, almost always 1 base all-in's or cheese, keeps you on your toes.

If anyone's up for 2v2 or 3v3, always up for a game.

Just join the OcUK chat channel and I'll be up for some games whenever I see anyone.

In regards to the leagues being tougher I think that is somewhat true. When WoL first came out everyone was in Diamond. My mate who got me into Sc1 was 2 time Diamond and he is most certainly a silver player at best. People who played when the player numbers where high, i.e during game release would have been playing in a bigger pool of players and therefore placed higher in the leagues, due to beating lots of scrubs.

Now the playing pool has decreased significantly, with mostly only people who play the game regularly and are therefore better than if you played months ago. The leagues now have become more compact and 'settled', so it is more difficult to gain promotion to a higher league. Off topic and this doesn't prove anything but I've also noticed a lot of commentators and pros on twitchtv and the like saying that when they play in their 'smurf' accounts that the skill of the lower leagues have genuinely surprised them in how creative and difficult some games they play in that they are expecting to 50-0 from bronze to masters, but they are not encountering this anymore.

I think 1v1 puts a lot of people off the game with the frustration of hitting that difficult barrier of raising your game to progress. I just take the game casually and play a few games each week and slowly work at getter better, rather than trying to jump up straight away after a series of losses. My biggest problem as a protoss 1v1er was playing against macro zerg. I've learnt a couple of pro builds and my win rate is around 80% against zerg now and only really lose when I make a mistake. This build I'm using will come to a halt I imagine at some point, probably the mid to high masters level and then I'll adjust my game some more and learn different builds. This is how I'm progressing at the mo anyway and avoiding the frustration of rage quitting. :)

The latest patch has reworked player distribution which was seriously broken (e.g. 2/3 of all players globally in 2 vs 2 were rated as bronze - 1 vs 1 wasn't as bad but still WAY too high)

I've only played a few games but I'm out of bronze again and getting matched vs. higher league players so am hopeful of getting back up to Gold/Plat as I'm beating guys at those levels just now easily enough... though of course they could be totally overrated given the weird effects the stagnation had. I was previously only ever playing guys who were also in bronze so it's a nice change even if mostly cosmetic until the leagues redistribute properly.

One day I'll even remember to come into the channel...
