**** Original Starcraft 2 Thread ****

Just been given a beta key by my friend who had a spare one. Downloading the patches now, there's so many!

But it's pretty well known Idra is probably the best SC2 player right now
 
whats with the match making setup ? , it put me with a total noob and me in copper but the others were in gold and silver (2v2) . i had to defend him and my own base , having said that i did not last long cause of the baby sitting lol .

edit : last 8 matches it has put me with a new player , they ask for help at the first sign of trouble . when i help i get attacked and they are from gold and silver , is it not fairer to put me with a copper seeing as i am copper . it puts me with people who are taking the placement matches and most are useless

The matchmaking system is mainly aimed (at the moment) to get games as fast as possible rather than match opponant to opponant.
i'm guessing the rules on this will be changed once the full version :)

This is what has been happening to me, I have a wall of cannons setup, about 20 upgraded stalkers, sentries, void rays and dark templar. We get attacked with similar number to what i have have by 2 opponents but see that my teammate has not even started to expand when I have moved onto my 3rd expansion and he has 10 maries and 2 siege tanks setup. great
 
the simple solution is to find yourself a 2v2 partner :)
im sure there are plenty of guys on here that will gladly be your 2's partner
 
IR 2v2 compliant ;) I'll play with just about anyone.

PS. I tend to leave myself logged in, even when away (need to start remembering to set my status as away)

But for the most part I am around from 20:00 - 11:30 (last game at 11:30 to finish by 12:00)

I'll have a game tonight, but I did mean about ranked games before. You cant just team up with anyone who you like for a ranked game can you? (unless you have one team-mate right from the start of the placement matches)

What does a archion do? I used 2 dark templars to make one and it looked like it was uncloaked and bigger with a lightening bolt weapon or something

if you have a team mate, you do all your placement matches with him/her and then get put into a league

Ify ou have it random, you have your own placement matches and it works that way

with each individual partner you have, you'll have a different ranking, unless of cyou enter 2v2's on your own (obtaining a random playeR)


Archons are formed when 2 templars are merged. their quite tough cookies, however all of their health, is through shields. they have a short ranged attack (lightening) which causes splash damage, its fairly good vs grouped units like zerglings and mutalisks :)

No I talk a much better game than I play :( And many would argue I don't talk a very good game

At the time it was announced I didn't feel I had the skill, knowledge, apm or build order to compete.

Actually I still think that now (although I have improved a fair bit since then).

If I ever get into the Platinum league (bronze at the moment) then I will start entering the Tournaments.

you should jump in anyway, some bronze and coppers in there too :) great fun and a ncie way to get to know the community :)
