The basic build order for terran is:

10 supply
12 barracks
13 refinery
15 orbital

From here on you can do what you want. At lower levels its probably good to learn the 3rax so get two more raxs and get 2 tech labs and one reacter and pump and get stimpack. Then go up to medivacs etc...

Or you can go 1/1/1 so after your 15 orbital you can get a factory then a starport.

Sorry that post made no sense to me whatsoever, Ive never followed a build order in an rts game or looked at any player videos online.

I just like doing my own thing, I would feel like a robot if I followed someone elses way of doing things. I see a lot of people who play who obviously follow a prescribed plan to the letter, but I dont see any fun in that whatsoever, apart from you will probably win, but to me it would be a hollow victory.

Is this game going to get a chatroom feature? There is a friend list, but how do I make friends if I cant get to know em? I see it has facebook integration, I have only a handful of irl friends who are pc gamers and of those 1 plays company of heroes.

To be fair you really need to if you want to do well against someone. You need to utilize your resources etc so building certain things at certain unit counts is vital, it's what separates bronze/silver from plat/diamond.

It's not a case of following them to the build order in a sense. It's a way to get a feel how the "Pros" or good players do it. You will not more than likely win, the initial build order is there, then when the game gets going you have to scout/adapt. I have a build order which I did my self, actually I have several and it all stemmed from watching good players. Not everyone I win.

You can talk to people in game, in custom games pre game lobby there is a chat and you can message people via the friends list.

As nex says, you basically need a 1 strat covers all kind of strat early game imo, that way you can adjust and adapt while surviving.

You need to follow some sort of build order to find what works and what doesn't. Once you're good enough you can experiment all you want. But building 6 nexuses without a gateway isn't going to get you anywhere, so it's really not a big deal to practise the "standard" to get some game knowledge and start working on your mechanics.

Just had a match where i messed up the Wall-in, by allowing the 2x Protoss to take it down with Zealots. I should have had SCV's there and the guy I was playing with Warned me but I didn't react quick enough.

Suffice to say my mineral line got severely reduced. He spent the next 10 minutes moaning at me, calling me a noob. He eventually quit leaving me to take them both on and wipe them out. Was a good victory considering the start.

Only downside to it was they weren't that good a team making the win pretty worthless.

Here's the replay if anyone's interested : Click Here

If anyones interested in making a 2v2 team with a silver ranked player, then send me a msg. I'm on most nights and haven't been able to find any regular partners that play when I do.

My info is on the SC2 Database.

Just had the worst run since I started playing the game, think I lost 10 on the trot, all against terran or protoss. I just seem to have hit a wall as Zerg near the top of plat, I just can't seem to secure the win.

I wrote a whole rant about my last game but have chosen not to post it. What it boiled down to is that I find Zerg a ridiculously unforgiving race, make a couple of mistakes and you pretty much instantly lose, even from winning positions. Admittedly this is true in certain situations for the other races as well, but having played both of them in the beta, it just seems far worse as Zerg.

Anyway, I choose to play Zerg so there's no point whining about it, it's just very frustrating at the moment!
