There's no excuse for being in bronze. :D

Watch this. Diamond instantly. If you're not, just watch more Starcraft. Go to teamliquid, find a stream and copy what they do. What buttons they press, how they move their mouse, etc. My current skill level is around 1500-1600 diamond I'd say if I laddered more and the reason for that is because I watch a lot of Starcraft. I haven't played much at all. 150 ladder games and about the same amount of customs.

Oh I watch Day9, what a legend.

Unfortunatly I have never been very good at RTS games, I just don't have good multi tasking skills. However I enjoy them, I do not play SC2 to be a AWESOME DIAMOND PLAYERS, I play it because I find it pretty fun and I try not to a, stress myself or b, preasure myself to get better. I am in Bronze because I am a bronze level player, i.e a bad player, does it bother me? Not in the slightest, I still have some good games and don't have to worry about being innovative or interesting. Yes the fact I play against people who are 99% of the time incredibly annoying does get old but hey. I play maybe 10 games a week, 20 tops, I think I'm been doing a bit better recently though, learning to adapt to what I scout and scout more often.

I'm actually thinking of moving away from Protoss, I've finding the lack of choices really annoying, the fact that terran and zerg can swap around differant units and do differant things at the same time really bugs me, I'm finding Protoss far too rigid in what you can do, you have to say "I'm doing [blah]", and if you scout something dodgy you have to say "nevermind, have to do [blah]" but then until the late game you are completely stuck in that second choice because everything is so bloody expensive. Also the fact that as far as I can tell to be able to apply ANY preasure early game I HAVE to 4 gate is really dull, I hate 4 gating, it just feels cheap. Maybe I'll try Terran for a bit.

Oh and really getting bored of that early zerg roach push, I had it 3 games in a row tonight, managed to beat 1 push and win with a counter, beat the 2nd but lost miserably, lost completely to the sthird because I missed the roach warren.

Whatever your motivation to play the game is, it's definitely worth exploring the other races. Might find either the terrans or zergies suit you better :) If you find all of them reasonably easy, then why not switch to random. Get some extra portraits and have the most varied set of matches possible :D

Despite all that I hate about playing protoss, I'm still sticking with it for now :D. I'm convinced there's more to be seen from them. Had a few wins on the ladder tonight so that's built up confidence a bit :)

I do agree on that 4 gate, does feel a bit cheap :p. But on the other hand, a good opposing player should be able to defend reasonably well, so..in all honesty the ball's in their court. If they defend with some degree of success then more often than not it's reasonably easy to pull ahead for the win.

Finally got back into diamond after rolling zerg. Was frustrating journey to say the least!

Just saw this, congrats! :D must have been quite an effort to work up to the same standard in a new race :).

(Looks like we have our very own MorroW in the 1v1 tournament ;))

That's totally cool dude. My post was more aimed at people who are struggling to get out of bronze and want to improve. It really really really isn't hard to get into diamond if you really want to.

If you force yourself to keep your minerals under 600 all game and force yourself to build workers all game, I can guarantee you'll be in at least platinum. If you can spent your money, on anything at all, then you will have a big enough army to win you games up until diamond level. It's literally that simple - tell yourself you're doing something wrong when you see you have 1000 minerals and spend it as fast as you possibly can, constantly build workers, constantly build units and try not to get supply blocked. If you can do this, you're bloody good at the game. And it's honestly not hard to do.

Basically before the roach buff, Protoss at least had Zerg to beat up on and abuse. Once you get past the early game against Zerg you were always at a disadvantage. But you could really cripple them before, so it wasn't so much of a problem.

Against Terran, it's still ridiculous since the only viable build is 3 gate robo or 2 gate robo expand. And now it's the same against zerg, only having to pump 3-4 immortals to counter a cheap spammable tier 1 unit, means zerg have a free ticket to the midgame with an eco advantage.

It's still possible to win vs zerg and terran of course. But Protoss was always about not making very many mistakes and since the zerg buffs, it's become even more so like that.

Terran have the highest skill ceiling of all the races and as time goes on and players figure out how to abuse their flexibility and force projection, it gets harder and harder for us poor protoss :(

To be honest, I'm playing usually with fun strategies, trying to be a bit brash and use blink and dts. It's not very safe and if you make a mistake you die. But it's more fun than just mindlessly going gate, gate, robo, gate, with a some 5c, e intermixed between.

I DESPISE BRONZE SO MUCH!!!! (no offense)

but EVERY player is a BM'er who insists on LIFTING ALL BUILDINGS and flying to random parts of the map just to waste time and trying to rebuild and mass siege tanks...SO annoying

We're not all like that!

I rarely move buildings unless it's the CC.

And what's a BMer?

BM = Bad Manner

I'm the quintessential gentlemen I'll have you know!

Always the first to fire off a 'GL HF'! :D

To be fair it took me about ~40 games to find my feet but now I'm racing off (up) the ladder and keep beating Golds even though I'm Bronze, I can't see promotion being too far off.

Actually last night I smashed a Diamond 2v2 player (he was Plat in 1v1 but only 30 games) and some other team winning ladder badge, obviously no sham! I was chuffed.

Do you seriously build workers ALL game?

So you can have 200 workers AND 200 units?

I thought workers used up supply?

they do, scott just meant that he stops when he has 80 workers (which will consume 80 supply), rather than when he hits 80 supply overall :). Max is still 200 supply total..

It's a good time tbh, will happily saturate up to 3 bases, and leave enough excess supply to produce a decent army :)

I might actually come back to this game. I got to mid range plat but felt I could do so much better I just did 2v2 though with friends who were rubbish and got bored with loosing lol.

No with 80 workers you can only have a 120 food army. When if you can actualy get to 80 workers then you'll be on 4-5 bases and can hopefully keep your army maxed and reinforce faster than you lose units.

Most people in platinum and lower just don't understand how important it is to just build workers. I'm trying to help someone who is in bronze, I'm playing with him all the time and telling him what to do. But he just won't listen, he stops at 22 workers, 30 in a good game. And then he wonders why he's still in bronze. If you build workers constantly until you know you have too many I promise you you will win games so easily.

Couldn't agree more about the worker side of things. I never had enough workers and that was my problem. I then would work to try and pump out more and with extra funds it was great, made life much easier.
