OS X 10.7 (Lion) GM Released

Can I ask something, I was thinking about getting a Macbook Air when they come out but I have a question.

Is the MBP memory upgradable by us and not by Apple Certified Engineers? If so what is the maximum capacity MBP can go.

Is the hard drive upgradable bu us and not Apple Certified Engineers? If so what is the maximum capacity MBP can go.

Both are user serviceable - MBP can have a max 8GB RAM, I think there are 1TB 2.5" drives which would be the max.

I was expecting the FINAL to arrive today...

Any news?

Well my machines running Lion have just received some software updates, iDVD, Aperture and one other, can't remember...I'm thinking Midnight :)

But that's purely speculative guess!

Was hoping for some information on Lion's release date but it seems that Apple are keeping it quiet :(

Its coming... soon.

Whilst I'm looking forward to it I'm certainly not losing sleep about its availability or in a rush to upgrade as Snow Leopard serves me very well.

Did anyone else experience problems after the updates last night? I woke up to discover that my Documents and Downloads folders were at 0MB and completely empty.

My Movies, Music and Pictures folders are unaffected, but the other two are totally hosed. :/ I launched Filezilla to grab from backup and that was as a new install (all preferences etc reset)... Firefox did 'first run' when I launched that, too: Bookmarks, prefs etc all hosed.

Now I remember why I was supposed to buy an external hdd for that Time Machine wotsit when I got my MBP... FTP backups are fine, but hardly convenient for things like Firefox/Filezilla issues... D'oh.

I'm tempted to roll back to SL for now, tbh.

EDIT: n/m, just remembered when I went to reboot last night it hung on the grey screen before shutting down. I ended up doing a hard reset from the power button. I guess something got corrupted. :( Lesson learnt.

Did mine in May (although used an new intel 80GB drive...) - Can't wait for Lion to give me TRIM!

Lion gives Trim does it? I hear many a person mention it on forums but I am yet to see anything official (even in the 250 features listed) regarding it even on Apples website?

Well, people thought it was going to be 12 midnight on Wed Night this week, but that never happened.

Most of the rumour sites are anticipating the latest hardware models to launch at the tail end of next week, so expect Lion to be the same.

They only ever release stuff after the financial results though, or at least that's how it always seems, so no sooner than the 20th and if I were to guess I'd have to say the 21st or 22nd.

Phone Jobs, tell him I want my Lion and want it now, none of this waiting rubbish, no tents or gimps with beards outside the store whooping, give me my Lion Jobs or else I'm telling me mum!
