Oscar Pistorius thread

He has to serve a sixth of the sentence then he can be considered for parole. So I bet he walks in ten months time.

Probably. And presumably he'll spend that time segregated in a nice cell with a TV and a view for "his own safety" anyway?

i liked the bit earlier when she read the bit about the struggles he had with his artificial limbs.... the defence conveniently forgetting that he competed against able bodied atheletes at london 2012. i'm not saying it wasn't hard but it shows the inner strength and determination he has - not the weak sap he was trying to portray himself as just to avoid jail.

Sky's SA legal expert just said he'd be in prison for at least 2.5 years. Hopefully.

It seems that it will likely be 10 months in the hospital wing of prison and then the rest under House Arrest with the terms of that House Arrest yet to be set.

This is what the legal team said just now.

I thought 5 years was a bit lenient but I thought that was more than he'd get... Then I read that he could be out on parole in 10 months...

I really think sentencing needs to be more strict with its set times.
