** OSX Yosemite **

Well if it is they have done a much better job than Microsoft :D

Having used both now I find Win 8.1 better to use than Mavericks personally.

The Macbook is a stunning piece of kit but I'm not so sure on OSX. Yosemite looked horrendous to me so I will be sticking with Mavericks if it stays the same in the final release.

IOS 6 to me was better than 7 and I feel OSX is going the same way even from the limited time I have used it.

Being careful about disagreeing with Apple die hards - not welcomed. Although I have a number of Apple products I don't claim that everything they do is either right or welcome - unlike some. You better get your tin hat out.

I'm new to apple and for me the Macbook is a really amazing piece of kit. There is nothing like it for build quality. You really feel like it justifies it's price when you get hold of it and then you turn it on and see the screen . But I'm just not digging OSX and I'm finding myself using Windows on it more.

But for me that is another + really. I can run Windows 8.1 on it so I get to enjoy the Macbook but with Win 8.1 as my operating system.

I have 8.1 on my iMac courtesy of my Parallels VM. I have started to explore the OS quite a bit recently and found it very pleasing. Certainly looks much better than the kiddies OS code named Yosemite.

I like how you refer to 8.1 rather than 8 and also calling Yosemite kiddie in comparison to MS's coloured jigsaw puzzle is laughable - you're clearly just trying to provoke a reaction, bored this evening? I won't call you a troll cos you're not that good. :D

So you see Yosemite as a good step forward for the Desktop? I refer to 8.1 as Microsofts current OS, why should I refer to an old OS? If you are referring to the Modern UI when you say coloured jigsaw puzzle I would have agreed with you 6 months ago. However, 8.1 has changed all that, so the user can now boot to Dektop without ever interacting with the Modern UI.

Do you say the Yosemite Dock is something we should all celebrate? I appreciate magicboy and others have to resort to insults as Yosemite takes some defending.

In reverse order.

Defending Yosemite - other than posts where I don't blindly agree with your opinion on the aesthetics and prove you are not mathematically gifted, show me a post where I'm defending Yosemite. I'll give you a clue, nowhere. Not even you can spin posts discussing Yosemite breaking Boot Camp and Internet Keychain into that.

Insults? Right. We've done the whole I don't accept your holier than thou attitude thing to death previously in the "Has Tim Cook lost the plot" thread. Just because I happen not to agree with every opinion you spout as an unarguable fact and call you on it makes my posts an insult now?

Isn't it time you invoked Godwins law already? :D

PS I've uninstalled it. Needed Boot Camp more than a beta OS.

But we already agreed your attempt at mathematics was a spoof right? On the subject of the Tim Cook thread all you managed to achieve was to discredit yourself. You simply need to brush up on how to construct an argument then we might be able to have a sensible debate. Good luck.

I agreed no such thing. I know this because I didn't reply to post #213. I won't confirm either way, mainly because where's the fun in that.

You've just proved (again) that there can be no sensible debate with you. The way I see it, you present your opinion as fact, then attempt to heckle anyone who doesn't 100% agree with that opinion.

Yea right whatever. I'm not the one who reinvented mathematics. :p You've admitted yourself you have struggled with aspects of Yosemite. The different Mac forums have plenty of people complaining and my estimate of hundreds was way to low having looked again.

Still, I am confident you will have another attempt to turn water into wine so I wish you good luck with that. I'll borrow a well know phrase and say 'I'm out'.

Fine, I'm out as well.

One final thing. I expected to experience problems with Yosemite - its not released. It's beta software, meaning it's mostly feature complete, likely to be buggy and have performance issues that may cause data loss (e.g. my Boot Camp install!).

The point of the public beta is to find problems and give feedback to Apple and the application developers that they can't get from the limited number of users available inside Apple, their partners and the developer community.

It's not some sort of special Apple faithful pre-release perk to look at the new shiny.

Just installed the Beta 2, and it's extremely good for a beta. Only issues I have is LG's True Color Finder calibration software doesn't work, and neither does my Logitech T651 trackpad.

The OS is extremely responsive, fast, and look really well. I've even seen big improvement in games performance for their minimum framerate.

The new Safari is a pure joy to use, and FCPX is faster than ever. I'll most likely replace the Logitech trackpad with an official Apple one, as they're darn useless for software updates. I'll just miss the built in rechargeable battery.

Hell even my Xbox 360 pad worked with the near ancient tattibogle 0.11 drivers.

I'm looking forward to the final release.

I'm running the Yosemite Public Beta 2 and I'm hoping someone here can help me debug this problem.

Occasionally Safari will stop loading websites, this also effects TweetBot, the native GitHub client, terminal, AppStore or running Software Update for applications. At first I thought it was a WiFi bug or similar. Then I noticed that while this was happening Chrome was unaffected.

Because Chrome is unaffected and its not related to just Safari I'm unsure how to debug or what to look towards for a fix.

Any ideas?

Am very much having the same problem as you... When Safari Hangs Mail hangs to so can't do anything... Google Chrome works a charm. How do you get mail or safari going again?

Mr.sly did you do a Erase and install for Yosemite or did you do a upgrade?

I did a clean install of Yosemite Public Beta 1 and then Public Beta 2 was just through the App Store update.

Restart did the trick or if I use Chrome for 10 minutes and then go back to Safari sometimes its back sometimes its not.

After reading around on the internet I saw some people suggest it could be a DNS issue. So I started using Google's Public DNS and I've not had any problems since. So thats worth a try if you're having problems.
