"Our attempts to make Formula One greener is ruining the sport" - Bernie Ecclestone

There were rumours that in order to head off CVC getting rid of Bernie due to the German court case, and thus the FIA terminating the 100 year contract, that Bernie, Ferrari and RedBull were heading a consortium to buy out the controlling shares from CVC. To do this more cheaply, they've been talking down the new F1 in order to get the shares at a lower price.

Someone tell me this isn't a thing of beauty

if you like plastic :p now the 312 V12 was a thing of beauty!

Hate to say this but i think most aspiring Ferrari owners care very little for the engine they house, Ferrari is far more about being a luxury brand than being a petrol heads wet dream these days.

Though as you say they have been all about the V12 pretty much there entire life so if anyone will keep the big engine ticking to some degree its likely to be them but even they have to meet market demands.

As much as this sounds like a conspiracy theory, I wouldn't put it past them.

But Ferrari and Red Bull owning F1 would be the death of the sport forever.

Yes, but it's not so much the teams but the owner of the teams. They would break with the FIA and call the series GP1. I don't see how this couldn't be a big conflict of interest.

If you look at the past, the teams have done things that didn't benefit anyone except the big few, because it seems they would rather cut off their noses to spite their own faces instead of working together to present a united front.

It's not like the teams are not already being screwed over by Bernie and CVC, especially if you look at other big sports such as ice hockey, baseball or nascar. There the money is shared out more equitably to keep the sport growing and prospering, instead of as a cash cow by the venture capitalists where the people doing all the work are getting the least benefit.

The teams or their owners cannot be trusted to do what is best for F1 and often what needs to be done. History has shown that anyone from the teams involved in decision making will always attempt to skew the rules in their favour. The teams or owners should have NOTHING to do with the running of F1.
