Out of intrest how quick are these?

the mondeo's are crap tho, i recently witnessed a cinquechento get away from a 2.5 mondeo... ok they cheated and went over wet ground ant the mondeo got stuck but there still pants
well if that doesn't tell you they don't uprate them then nothing will, lol.
the Escort Cossies that patroled Hull had their alloys replaced by steelies and the suspension raised by an inch+half (i think).
reason?
the local car thieves used to drive up kerbs to get away and alloys+low suspension stops plod from being able to pursue.

That might have something to do with the tyres, a 2.5 mondeo would have no problem catching a cinq and they arent actually all that bad a car.

i'm being a bit harsh the 2.5 is only slightly lower powered than my car but they carry so much weight it makes then a bit sluggish and unganely... so i'm reliably informed... :D

mk2 or 3 Because i wouldn't call my MK2 V6 sluggish also depends on if it an auto or manual as the 2.5 auto is slower then a 2.0 manual :)

hartside's my old neck of the woods (alston) i'd rather they were there on R1's might lower the death toll on that road!

Nah, everyone was still flying around as usual, just slowed down when they saw the cops, who wernt hanging around themselves tbh

I want one of these!

there mainly mk 2's theyv'e moved over to st-dtci's now but there's constantly the weight of two people in the boot... i am comparing it with 3.2 omega's and T5's mind you the other trafic cars and not comparing them to the now 1.6d estate focuses (foci?!?)

Sorry Fox, in police spec that thing will catch most motorbikes as well as carrying the best part of 300kgs in its ass!

They get sent to specialist tuners who modify pretty much everything. This will see the plus side of 170mph and will hit 60 in around 3-4 seconds at full chat.

Courtenay used to have the contract of fettling the Vectra GSi Cop motors and these flew!

Do you have a reliable source for that? It doesn't seem particularly likely to me.

3-4 seconds?
ho ho
so we're looking at somewhere in the region of 450 bhp?
not a cat in hells chance.
police forces are 100% accountable for every quid that goes through their coffers.
if you really think they run fire breathing traffic cars then you are sorely mistaken.
even the Cosworths, which let's be honest were easily THE most tuneable traffic car ever, were standard.

So the police reinforced chassis is imaginary then. Oh well :(
They also have rather imaginative gearboxes which makes for some impressive sprints. 0-100 in the above example comes round in 14seconds fully laden

last time i checked chassis reinforcement would slow the car down, not speed it up.
of course there are differences but these are minor and not the major mods you suggest.
the ARV's have slight power increases as they need to compensate for the weight of the ballistic shielding but the ordinary traffic cars run a standard power output..

250bhp in standard trim is not to be sniffed at though. I remember a few years back an article on Courtenay and they had easily achieved the Vectra traffic cars a sub 12 second 1/4 mile.

acheived and what the force run daily are 2 different things.
