Okay, not quite... This thread is for the stories you have used in order to buy high priced items but hidden from your girlfriend/wife. We hear a lot of stories here at Overclockers and it would be great to hear what excuses you have used when you have purchased high priced items from ourselves or other companies, or if you have any other related stories from a friend, post away. :)

(Forum rules still apply so no competitors being mentioned please)

:/

I've always just been a real man, bought what I want when I want, if she has a problem, tough, it's my money...if you have to hide your spending from your partner, lol at you.

'Hey, I just ordered a new graphics card for my PC'
'Thats lovely, thanks for telling me'

I can't imagine there ever being a problem unless the statement was suffixed with 'so we cant afford to do XYZ you wanted now'.

Basically the above. If you've got the money to spend, fine. If you're taking the **** and it affects other areas, then fair enough.

Because I'm 16 and don't have a wife (obviously), it's more like "Yo mum my old graphics card has buggered up, I need a new one." "Ok, Matt you will have to wait until Thursday" "K cool". :D

What she doesn't know about . . . .

I normally just get a one of these:

Especially with my watercooling project currently taking up the kitchen drainer :D.
She doesn't understand it, so she blanks it. Usually works in my favour!

The gf doesn't mind what I spend my money on however the last time upgrade I dropped £700 on kit and she wasn't very impressed as I was pretty much broke for the rest of the month

On buying a Prolimatech Megahalems:
"£50 for a piece of metal to glue to the computer!?"
"If I didn't buy it, it would burn and we would have to buy a new one for a few grand."
"Oh, ok. But you're taking me out."

... And I never did [evil laugh]...

I've never made up a story about buying expensive goodies. Maybe not mentioned some of the things or revealed the price but never told her lies about them. If she asks she gets told, to be honest she knows the goodies keep me happy so doesn’t ask any more.

Perhaps you should be wondering how much does your wife/gf buy without telling you.... i.e. Shoes & clothing etc. :D
