OVERCLOCKERS UK BUSINESS TO BUSINESS TEAM

You could drop me an email requesting a call and receive one within 30 minutes. Or an msn and receive one instantly if me or Ade are not already on the phone, if we are then we will call you asap :)

That still does not solve the main problem with the B2B team, why don't you just change the number that doesn't charge us to place an order?

Having to wait 30mins for a potential phone call that may or may not come is a waste of time. We should be able to phone up, free of charge, place an order and leave it at that.

It seems primitive to have to use MSN/Skype over using a phone to place an order.

It doesn't need to be FOC as you are implying it should be 0800 which it shouldn't necesarily. What it should be however, is a local 01 number that nigh on every personal customer gets free and businesses pay a pittance to call.

Ment to say without paying a premium tbh :)

now that you mention this mike. i placed an order over the phone last month and it took 7 mins for someone to pick up. i thaught mayby they are just busy.

You will pay 13.1p setup charge PLUS 7x10p making a lovely 83.1 Pence just waiting for someone to answer.

This is why my company will not allow us to ring such numbers. We don't use them, so they won't deal with anyone that does.

I should point out we have numerous direct dial numbers and extensions so cost limitation shouldn't be a reason

I'm with all the 0871 complainers. It isn't the money that counts; it is the attitude of a company that demands it.

Sky are another prime example of a company who do this and is one the biggest complaints about them.

Personally I think that these sort of lines should never be allowed to used by businesses.

Stoner81.

Yup, the phone lines are one of my pet hates here.

I have naked DSL so a landline call is out of the question.

3 swift phone calls arranging an RMA cost me £7...

We don't deal with ocuk at work for this reason. We deal with a competitor in Bolton. They may well have 0871 but they haven't gone to the great lengths ocuk have to hide their 01 number.

When you stop trying to make extra money out of keeping people on hold for 20+ minutes listening to pants music to make an extra £2 or so then we will talk ocuk!

At work we have two numbers, an 01736 number and wait for it.... an 0800 number! Why the landline and 0800?

Landline for people using mobiles
0800 for people using landlines without a call allowance (rare these days)

Also, as stated in a previous business thread, your systems are no good without onsite support, which is what we need. Also the schools around here only ever deal with Dell or RM so unfortunately I can't reccomend this to a few of my friends in the IT support game here.

Mike, we are well aware that this is the case. as you have mentioned it every time there is a business to business related post on the latest news and deals section.

unfortunately, this is not something we are able to change without authorisation from the powers that be.

as has been mentioned every time, you can deal with Phil and Ade via msn or email and they will easily be able to call you back.

I do not deal with a single supplier that I call. I message everyone via MSN/Skype and they call me.
We have a B2B team who are hungry for orders and they will call you.

I am also able to confirm that at present, our hold time is non existent and customers are able to contact a B2B representative with no wait.

every time you make a big fuss about it, and every time we point out these reasonable alternatives.

once again, you are making assumptions.

Have been using the B2B team via MSN and email since the service became available, we still compare quotes with various competitors as we're required to for any orders over X amount but generally get a much quicker response from Ade or Phil than everyone else i try. Not to mention they come in cheapest most of the time ;)

For everything from purchasing to RMA I've not had to use the phones once, just send them a message and they deal with it there and then....don't see the issue to be honest. For general IT equipment like office and classroom computers we don't get issues that would require instant support via the phone, i can understand that when it comes to servers and network equipment where you require high availability but that's not exactly what you come to OcUK for anyway...

FAO OldCoals, lots of schools are putting SSDs in their PCs now, most school PCs don't need lots of space so 60GB SSDs are all they need at a maximum, with these now so cheap they give old PCs a new lease of life. Recently purchased some of the 60GB Sandisk drives from OcUK at a brilliant price and they've given a whole new lease of life to some ageing PCs :) (albeit even 4GB ram and an SSD can't seem to improve the performance of a pentium 4 D CPU based PC :p)

I'm not going to disagree that the phone numbers do need changing, but fact is phones simply aren't as important as they used to be.

Thanks for the good feedback m8. :)

No worries gents, but as mentioned by a few, the telephone thing is a deal breaker for many. Myself and the company I work for included.

It isn't a problem, we shall just continue to spend elsewhere, but I would have liked to have given you a go.

How many times are you going to mention the telephone line? (We get it!) :p

We are aware of it and it is something we are looking into as mentioned, hopefully when this is looked into and possibly amended then hopefully we will have you onboard. :)

If you would like to add me on Skype i would be more than happy to deal with anything you need and give you a call if needed :)

Theres a slight problem there mate, if I am out on an external site I don't take a phone thats capable of skype. Infact I'm lucky it makes calls to be honest.

The only time I have a skype or internet capable phone is on a late night migration or systems change. By this time I'd imagine you're tucked up in beddy byes ;)

I need to be able to make a call and order parts or a system on the spot and sadly since the widespread abuse of the company phones a few years ago they have now rectified this by using sims that can only use the available minutes on them - tesco power ;) This however, means no 0870 0871 calls and as such I can only ring the 01204 number I use!

I never ring any company with those terribly expensive phone numbers!

internet trading is becoming more and more popular, i can give group quotes and deal with more customers over msn and skype than i can over the phone. if you would like to add me feel free :)
