Overclockers UK - the past, present and future

He can't answer, because he got less than €50m. The actual figure hasn't been released, but you could guesstimate by looking at the accounts and using a multiplier, if you so wish.

You could guesstimate a value of the company using a multiple. However the true value of a company is the price someone is willing to pay. It doesn't matter what x times EBITDA is equal to if people won't pay that price. (Or will pay much more)

Congrats Spie and Caseking.

I'm just happy that the forums won't be changing and that hopefully nobody will be losing their jobs!

Congrats to both parties. I think it's reassuring that the buyer is someone who shares a similar level of enthusiasm and passion as Spie and others. That will go a long way to ensuring its successful.

Congratulations Spie!!! you and the team you built around you really have done an exceptional job with the Shop and the community over the years, the ever growing active friendly community and loyal customer base you have are testiment to that.

So take care, wish you the best of luck with future ventures and hope you wont be a stranger here.

Hopefully the new owners will take note of why OcUK became successful and keep the forum community the way it is. The reason I continue to shop at OcUK as it does not feel like a faceless company, which is a point where many competitors fall down.
I fully agree with this, which is why i keep coming back, i always buy from OCUK, the customer service i have received over the years has been 2nd to none, long may this continue!

As they say change is enevitable, lets hope the change is for the good, and that the new owners respect and listen to the community like Spie and his team have done so well over the years.

Welcome to the community CK-Toni and CK-Kay:)

Congratulations on the sale and your subsequent retirement Mark. I wasn't here in the beginning so I haven't seen every chapter in OcUK's history, but from my experience I have no doubts as to the lengths you've gone to bringing the company to the position it's in today.

It's been great being a member of the forum for the past 6 years, being able to give something back through being part of the mod team is really just the icing on that cake for me. I'm confident that the new owners will take OcUK from strength to strength in the future, but hearing their intention regarding the forums as an important - even integral - part of the business is music to my ears!

it would be nice if spie could do a bit of a write up and tell us how he got into the business at the start, what led him down the path, education, experience etc as i find this very inspirational.

Well deserved Spie, enjoy your rest and keep us updated on what other ventures you've got lined up.

Also, I only this week ordered an OcUK mug, does this mean I have a vintage item or like computer hardware, do I need the next generation of OcDE mugs soon? :p

pretty sure he has already done that way back when, I remember an 'esnet' focused thread describing his split from his old business partner etc.. was quite detailed, maybe it's archived?
