Overclocking my PS3

You really have to have seen the difference before you can tell the difference between 30 and 60 (ie. played a game with an FPS counter, eg. a pc game with Fraps turned on).

Erm... no.

In fps and facing games it's obvious when a game is running at 60fps as it feels so much smoother.

Totally agree, anyone who has played the burnout series will know what this looks like INSTANTLY

Load up burnout paradise on a PS3/360 and just go "yep thats how its suppost to be done"

But in saying that i just finished a 2hour session on GTAIV on my PS3 and noticed not 1 slowdown, not saying it doesnt happen but meh i pretty fk'n happy. Awesome game with awesome graphics..... FFS if you dont like it make your own then wait for the reviews and see how you get on....

I tell ya, I'm so glad that I generally don't notice framrate problems like some of you on here (I can't really tell the difference between 30fps & 60fps if I'm honest). Seems like if you are sensitive to the framerate drops then it's ruining one of the best games of this gen for you :(

30fps locked is fine, BUT when you have the framerate constantly changing between 30 and 60fps you WILL tell the difference and it will be annoying.

60fps is superior, but those who say 30fps just plain sucks are just being elitist morons, locked 30 is perfectly fine.

You get used to the poor frame-rate after a while, that doesn't make it optimal though... the optimal frame-rate for any game is 60fps nobody can argue with that.

Console developers aren't cutting frame-rates to 30fps because they want to it's simply that PS3/360 just aren't capable of HD graphics at 60fps in the cutting edge games.

PC version will undoubtedly be far superior to both console versions but we have to wait unfortunately.....

This is very strange, I have not seen any framerate issues on either console.

From the get go I could see there was a tiny amount of slow down on the 360 version which settled down after 10 minutes of playing.

The PS3 version I have yet to see any slow down at all. Even with immense action on screen.

PS3 40gig using HDMI on my Dell Ultrasharp 2407WFP @ 1080p
360 Falcon using VGA on my Dell Ultrasharp 2407WFP @ 1080p

T.

I haven't seen any slowdown on my PS3 version either, I'm playing it on a Sony Bravia 32" @ 720p. The 360 version also seems fine but its crashed a good 3 or 4 times now which is annoying , same with my mates on his 360.

Will the draw distance be better on the PC version?, thats the main thing I'm disappointed with the blurred backgrounds.

I've been watching comparisions on youtube and it appears there isn't much in it in which version is best. The 360 version is a tinny bit better looking but the PS3 version has better load times has some of the games installed to the harddrive the PS3 version also supporst 6Axies which works well with helicopters.

The advice given at the end of one of the reviews sounded like sound advice. Just get the version your mates are getting so you can hook up with them in multiplayer. Seen has I have no mates I'll get the 360 version at sometime because of the extra content that will come around. :D

I thought the Sixaxis helicopter while alright was not a patch on using the normal controls.

Personally though my PS3 version constantly crashes so I'll just wait for a patch and enjoy the 360.

Neither has mine. It's not even juddered or paused.

I do get a small amount of slowdown when going really fast or when there are 20+ cars on screen. Even then its not enough to distract me from the game and I only actually notice it when I've just been reading about it on the Internet :p

No problems here and ive played throughout the game. Ive seen one or two slowdown instances during heavy gunfire or in big pile ups. But to say the game is full of slowdown or a 'slide show' is just a lie. imo id rather see some slowdown at particularily hectic moments (assuming 20-25 fps though not <10) than have the whole graphical engine toned down to avoid any slowdown whatsoever under any circumstances, wouldn't you agree??

Seriously I don't know how you can't tell the framerate it low. Just stand in a Burger Shot and spin the camera around. Is it super-smooth? No.
