Overclocking my PS3

I wouldn't complain if it didn't look even as good as it does now, its the slowdown that really spoils the experience for me.

Obviously without an HDTV its not going to look all that (I don't have one) so I can't justifiably moan about that, but <20fps framerates are not on.

nice one for setting the fanboys off

its a console - you should know that it uses old pc tech - a ps3 is not a £2000 gaming rig - the price and performance reflects that.

It is also a fixed hardware platform, so there is little or no excuse for releasing a game which is not properly optimised for performance.

^^^ this is important.

Yes they knew it was going to run like this at times and released it anyway, already obviously compromising on the PS3 resolution.

I agree its all about the gameplay and not the graphics, hence why you need a solid framerate rather than lovely HDR-ness.

the overall framerate on the ps3 version is pretty low all round, but at least its somewhat consistent. having a framerate in the 100's only to have it dip to single digits in a firefight would be be worse really.

I may be off the mark, but isnt the game optimized for 720p, surely downscaling it to standard def will mean that the console has to do more work and therefor is likely to not cope perfectly.

I would imagine getting a HD screen will improve things for you

There's nothing wrong with the PS3 version. Or the 360 version either from what I've played of it.

Jeez, the fanboys on here are unreal.

Nothing to do with fanboys (a term which is banded about far too easily).
The fact is that the game isn't faultless when it comes to frame rate, which can at times drop quite severely.

This is very strange, I have not seen any framerate issues on either console.

From the get go I could see there was a tiny amount of slow down on the 360 version which settled down after 10 minutes of playing.

The PS3 version I have yet to see any slow down at all. Even with immense action on screen.

PS3 40gig using HDMI on my Dell Ultrasharp 2407WFP @ 1080p
360 Falcon using VGA on my Dell Ultrasharp 2407WFP @ 1080p

I am playing the 360 version at 1080p,

The framerate "feels" fine for me most of the time but it does slow down a hell of a lot when doing high speeds over the bridges connecting islands, I know it doesn't need to be super slick here but it is the only time i really notice any slowdown
