Overtaking a funeral procession

I don't know the dead person and I'm not choosing to be in a procession. There's nothing disrespectful to me in driving according to the laws of the road and overtaking in a sensible fashion.

I don't care about the dead person if I don't know them and just don't see how it is possibly "disrespectful".

Change your username; you're a disgrace to the name 'Atticus Finch'.

I really think people are over-reacting. I'm sure atticusfinch didn't mean that he'd overtake revving as loudly as he possibly could, with music at full volume, he probably meant that he'd overtake in a calm, sensible fashion on a single carriageway road if necessary. I don't see anything wrong or disrespectful about that.

TBH, overtaking a funeral on a single carriageway is bad form.

I either wait or detour. I Will very quietly saunter past on a dual carriageway.

Wally trains (tractor in drag) on the other hand; I'll scream past those.

Being born with this much luck, why then move to the UK? :(

NZ > UK

A Holiday somewhere != Living there

There is a reason a large amount of kiwis move over here and stay.

Single carriageway, not a chance, people need to have some respect. Its going to add seconds to your journey, and after all, someone is DEAD, while you have your life to live.

Dual carriageway, no problem, with a small slowdown to show respect.

Whats wrong with this country, why are people so damn rude and inconsiderate these days?

Is someones journey time really more important than a fellow mans life?

:(

With all due respect, I really hope you ARE trolling, as that really is an ****hole view to take.

Come on, seriously, where are your manners compassion and respect?

Christ, it could be the death of a hero serviceman who helped the country defeat the Nazis, but no, why should you give a damn about a dead person?

Your attitude literally epitomises what is wrong with the UK, and the mindless, thick, rude, and moronic underclass who dribble their way though life like disabled, stoned chimps, and thats an insult to a stoned chimp!

what if you do a wheelie in their honour?

Hilarious, but if it was clear that a bunch of Bikers were riding in procession and the deceased was obviously a fellow biker, then I suppose that MAY be appropriate in the circumstances.

As long as you made it clear it was out of respect rather than just being an ****hole.

:(

I find this quite an odd stance. I probably wouldn't overtake a funeral procession, but, the dead aren't really going to notice, and if you have your whole life to live, you probably don't want to spend what little time you have left on this Earth waiting in a funeral procession :p

says it all really...

sorry to those Londoners here who are polite and respectful but your in the minority ! :D

i wouldn't dream of passing them on a single carriageway and i would only do it on a dual if i knew that sitting behind them would alter my journey time massively. its not even like they go massively under the speed limit .

Depends of the circumstances, but if they were going significantly below the speed limit and it was clearly safe to overtake all at once then I would. But if they were doing 25 in a 30 I'd just sit back until they were gone or I could take an alternate route.

Have you ever been in a funeral procession?

I'm going to guess not as no funeral procession is ever going to be doing 25 in a 30...

Wait or detour tbh, I always leave 10 mins early for anything just in case there's Roadworks or something else that is going to delay me. Can't believe the disrespect shown by AtticusFinch
