Overwatch

I have to say though Doomfists charge is insane. I don't know if it needs a bit of a nerf or i just need to learn how to avoid it.

You can here it charging up but depends on your character if you can do anything about it.

Best is to counter him and from what I have seen so far junk and reaper and mcree seem the best at taking him out

Yeah, I finished my placement matches yesterday. Didn't have time to actually check where I placed as I was late for work! Loved it last year, enjoying it again this year.

I really want to give Lucioball a decent try, I loved Rocket League. I'm too addicted to playing Genji at the minute though :(

Played one or two games last year and thought it was rubbish. Played about 20 games so far this year and loving it. Not sure why I didn't give it a proper chance last year.

Although anyone that mains Sym should burn in the deepest darkest fiery pits of hell :(

I think that should be reserved for Doomfist.

Mayhem used to be fun but the stupid massive hitbox with Doomfist is annoying. Its almost like it was created for console players who use controllers. People even in comms are fed up.

Also goodness grief the drops for the new summer skins are terribad - have had two dozen loot crates since the event started and not a single of the summer event skins.

I've had to resort to solo queing recently, but I got very lucky last night joining a team of SoloQ folk with 3 or 4 of us using comms well and the other 2 at least listening and everyone willing to adjust when suggested. I think we lost the first game in overtime, but it was a pleasant experience still, playing with a good team. One guy joined me and we played another and again seemed to get lucky with a bunch of guys using comms and happy to make changes. Volsyaka Ind and we went to Overtime again, but with a less than impressive performance. Someone had a strategy though and everyone was happy to set up and do their role. I don't think I've ever seen such a quick and smooth push... (I didn't feel I did all that much myself)

We then held them off relatively easily for the win :)

What is with people not knowing how to play escort the payload?

Yesterday I got matched with idiots in quite a few games, even though they were much higher level then me,did not seem to understand if you don't stay with the payload it won't move forward.

Instead they kept being distracted by the other teams who were using a simple tactic of using one or two members to keep them fighting elsewhere. I literally had to explain to them what they were trying to do FFS!!

Is this quick play you're referring to? It sounds like quick play.

Its not competitive(which I do play but can't keep up with what is "meta" and all that crap,so its not often),but any of the other modes. I have played other games like PS2,UT,etc where people seem to understand the concept of control points and escorting payloads.

I mean some of these people are hundreds of levels above me,and I need to explain basic game modes to them.

You don't need to explain the game modes to them, they simply don't care. I only QP to practice my aim or play when I think I might not have time to fit in a comp match and I rarely give two hoots about objectives anymore. I warm up, then go play 'properly' in competitive. When the deathmatch mode goes live I'll warm up there instead. Even in competitive there is precious incentive to actually try unless you are on the cusp of a new season high or new rank. Lots of people only play competitive because there is no DM mode, and because golden weapons. Hopefully DM will take some of them away, and then Blizzard will let people get golden weapons from QP as well. This gives an incentive to 'try' in QP and also gives less reason for trolls and throwers to be playing competitive mode.
Jeff Kaplan has stated that he regrets ever introducing rewards in competitive mode.

Yeah, that's quick play for you. I dip in to warm up, or practise new heroes that I want to play comp with. The majority of my Genji time so far has been in quick play. If you want to try and play the objectives then you need to play competitive. It's pointless getting annoyed with quick play.

Its in all modes outside competitive even Total Mayhem. The worst thing is all they are doing is usually getting hammered by one or two players, and it really also reduces the XP too they gain(especially if you want loot in the game).

I hope they fix it,since even though I like competitive mode some people really don't know how to play in a team(I try my best to sort of fill in what roles are needed). Having said that after coming from games like UT(played it when it first came out),Planetside 2,etc. Is there any way to keep up with what characters are "allowed" to play and not "allowed" since I have seen people get abuse for choosing certain types of characters?

OK so to answer your question, I'll ask you one, how much do YOU want to / care about winning?

And I ask that because I have literally stopped caring, if I win, great, if I lose, meh. I used to fill / flex to suit what others had picked, and now I refuse to because even at low masters, 3650 atm, I still end up in 4/5 DPS games when i solo Q. They EXPECT me to pick a support so THEY can all derp on DPS and I just won't do it anymore. I will pick something fun like mei / reaper / widow. I'm not trolling, I still try and win but I just leave voice/team chat and play my game. If one of the 5 dps picks a tank or healer then I will rejoin and play the other role usually but I can't do both.

So if you DO care about winning, then try and play around people. We've all had that Torb one trick on a 2nd account who ONLY plays Torb, pick Orisa or some other barrier to play around him. Someone is playing Winston (hes very meta right now) then pick Zarya / D.VA to support him, bubble him when his shield drops, fly in with him and matrix once his shield goes down. You have a Widowmaker? Pick a Winston or D.VA, dive the enemy, make room for widow to get picks. That kind of stuff.

Saying that, picking Hanzo, Sombra, Bastion, Widow will generally net you some abuse. Just leave comms if people give you crap, also report them.

You sometimes can't believe people's attitudes. I was in a comp game the other day, we had 2 tanks, 3 DPS and 1 healer. There was a little moaning but we said lets give it a try. The one Mercy said he was getting focus'd can we have a second healer, so someone switched to Lucio (I was still S76). Within 30 seconds, so maybe his next death, Mercy switched to Phara (which was what Lucio was before). I asked why he switched out, 'because I was getting focus'd, I told you'. 'Okay, so we're going to solo heal with Lucio?'... 'You change to healer than, why should I?!'. I explained sure the fact that's how we started means he had that role. He went quiet, maybe he muted me. It just annoys me when people have that selfish attitude. If he'd even asked, 'will someone swap with me, this isn't working' then maybe I would have (although I had a few golds and generally going quite well).

I'm almost always the first to pick and generally take Soldier. I'm not sure how I feel about these people that then gradually come in and pick two or three more DPS. The tank or healer is then left asking for some more help. I guess it's not necessarily fair to just go on first picks gets it, but at the same time, if there are 3 DPS, surely you ask if someone could swap out rather than just taking a 4th?

I love playing Hanzo and Sombra and 95% of the time before a shot has been fired I'm already getting abuse. Makes me want to learn these characters more if anything haha!
