Overwatch

At £30 if i get a couple of months out of it then its a bargain. £30 is nothing... easily spend double that on a night out. Cinema for 2 will cost more than that and so does a meal.

Unfortunately whilst I agree for some reason games aren't viewed in the same light :p

It's a good laugh and I'm tempted to buy it in all honesty but with so many games coming out I'm struggling to justify it.

I fully understand that and if you ever feel you have to justify it then it's probably not worth purchasing it anyway.

As much as it is a good laugh I don't think you would be missing out massively by not buying it.

For me as mentioned in previous posts, it does what i need it too. It's a game i can chuck on after work for an hour or two and aimlessly run around. If i win great if not then no biggy.

If i was after something to really get stuck into and put proper time into then it would fall short.

This sums it up perfectly for me too! Enjoying my time with this in little chunks!

That's a huge positive for me as well - Some nights I only get half an hour to play games and in Overwatch I can easily get through 2 or 3 rounds in that time... compared to something like CS:GO (which I also enjoy, but have no hope of playing 1 competitive game in that time)

I tend to value games at " £ / 1 Hour of entertainment"... if it's at or better than £1 per hour then it's likely worth it... so 30 hours of Overwatch for me are where it will start to get into that territory, and I think I'll easily play that much after launch considering several mates have already picked it up too

This is the big draw for me too. Sometimes I just want to take a break, fire a game up for some very quick action and have a blast for 30 minutes, hassle free. Overwatch is perfect for that. It boots up so fast and you're into a game before you can blink. Assuming the population stays healthy, it should continue to be easy to find a quick game. The only problem is that's it's much easier to log in than to log out :)

Although I've only played a few hours, I've enjoyed it so far. As some others above, I don't have much time to sink into games, so being able to drop in for a couple of matches is a bonus for me - only drawback is lack or ultrawide support.

I thought the beta was suppose to close yesterday, everyone on my friends list is still playing today, and i can still play, did they forget to close it or is it just a timezone issue or summat?

Enjoyed the beta a lot actually probs end up getting it. As many have said not a lot of depth but fun for the amount of hours i can spend playing game these days.

Solid game keep me entertained for abit.

Planning to go with cdkeys for the Origins edition... I think they probably send out the code on release day but it doesn't matter too much as

A. It's on a weekday
and
B. Game is already downloaded + installed from the Beta

g2a are currently a little bit cheaper fwiw.

No 21:9 support from a publisher as experienced as Blizzard sucks somewhat I have to say. :(

It's not an oversight, they leave it out on purpose as they use the excuse it gives an unfair advantage. Doesn't really wash in FPS games though as you could argue a good mouse, higher refresh rate etc... give an advantage.

I do think it will come when people moan enough but it won't be soon.

Plus i hope they don't push this game down the competitve scene. Not every game has to be pro level.

Just keep it as the mindless shooter it is now and people will play it for what it is.

I'd say maybe halfway between the two is where I'd like to see it go... it would be nice to have a competitive type mode where there are a few more simple restrictions on classes (for instance: no more than 1 of each hero on a team)... And perhaps some form of matchmaking penalty or cool-down for abandoning the game... a kick system as well...

(I can imagine having a lot of ruined games where little butthurt players on your team quit the match as soon as the other team win a round or cap the point or whatever, or worse still the classic "I don't like a team-mates hero choices so I'm going to berate him for it and then have a paddy and actively work against the team when he doesn't switch hero")

Another cool idea would be a semi-competitive type mode with the restriction "only 1 of each hero per match with no hero switching" and have the players take it in turns to pick a hero (coin toss to decide who picks first)... You'd see who the other team pick and can then counter-pick, then they try to counter pick you etc. might be interesting
