Overwatch

Awe beta finished =/ what am i gonna play now.

Thats the first FPS ive enjoyed playing for years.

Overwatch pr0n apparently (ie based on characters)...bizarre...I don't want to meet the freak that wants roadhog based stuff :p:D

It's not an oversight, they leave it out on purpose as they use the excuse it gives an unfair advantage. Doesn't really wash in FPS games though as you could argue a good mouse, higher refresh rate etc... give an advantage.

I do think it will come when people moan enough but it won't be soon.

Their official response is some technical reason to do with FoV being designed for 16:9 and 16:10. I do think the 'unfair advantage' plays some part in it, not that I necessarily agree with it. I don't expect to see 21:9 support for it any time soon, which is a shame as I quite liked this. Lawbreakers might be a good alternative, probably closer to Overwatch than Battleborn is.

I'm going to ask a possibly dumb question here... forgive me...

If a game doesn't support 21:9 properly can you not just play it at a 16:9 resolution centered on the screen with black bars up the sides? (I appreciate it won't be as good as utilising the whole screen... but if the game is really fun and you want to play it isn't that a worthwhile compromise?)

I've not got a 21:9 monitor but I think that is how it works. I think people just want to use their monitors to their full capabilities.

It's what i do, it's a pain don't get me wrong but it's such a fun game it would be daft to miss out on over a couple of black bars.

Makes sense guys, cheers - that's what I suspected

Presumably "support for" 21:9 is more complicated than simply allowing the resolution, as they also need to allow the HUD element placement to be a little bit more flexible (can't imagine having your health and ammo in the bottom left + bottom right would be easy to cope with on a super-wide monitor)

Yeah, in some games you can just enable the resolution in an ini file somewhere and it works, but it would appear there's more to it here. Hopefully they'll implement it soon, I've got plenty to keep me occupied until then though :p

It shouldn't detract from the game though, I'm hopeful for it.

Fov needs to be adapted plus game render changes if game didn't render outside the fov

Art sometimes needs edits, like skins

It's not just flick a switch

I got all three 16:10 16:9 and 21:9
