Overwatch

Limited by the game's gameplay. Lucio's AOE (Boop and melee) too large to make it enjoyable past a couple of games. And also low tick rate -> hard to get precise shots. 'No skill involved' I suppose. But it's fun, and could have potential to be a more interesting distraction.

Kudos for trying though, it's well done.

I'm still in quick-play-only land.

Finished a round last night where I knew we were doomed from the "go". Defending a payload mission (futuristic city - Numbani?).
I was Zenyatta.
We had a Roadhog as tank.
We had 2 Pharahs and 2 Widowmakers. When I said "I don't think we need 2 snipers" they changed.
To another Pharah.

We lost (naturally). The enemy had two Tracers who just repeatedly flanked us and got ignored by our DPS. The roadhog did what he could, but it was basically me and him/her against the entire enemy team. I got gold in healing done, eliminations, objective eliminations. Silver in damage done (I suspect gold went to Roadhog). The DPS were all mid-20s in level, so not newbies. None of them responded to chat, mic, emotes or anything. The whole level felt like grinding inevitability.

Two rounds later I got a group that changed composition fluidly, supported each other, called out enemies, syncronised ults... It was wonderful. Played 2-3 really close rounds against a similar team and had a blast, even when losing. I don't care if I win more than half my matches, as long a they all play like that I'll be happy.

Another great night in my group of 4. mainly played Lucio and just got into a grove, had such amusment holding a point on my own after our team were dropped by just hitting speed boost and wall running, jumping over them, pushing them back. Took me down in the end as expected but bought enough time for the team to get back and take the point.

Also had a great game as junkrat and for once beating my mate who plays phara a ton to elimination gold, plus objective time and objective kills.

Finished the night out 5-0 and up to rank 56 now :D

No doubt I'll ruin it all tonight with some dumb choices.

Ironically roadhog and Pharah are quite good counters to Tracer.

Only with competent players though, and 2x tracers would be a nightmare for Roadhog.

Roadhog needs to hook her regularly otherwise she will run rings around him and constantly blink in and use her pulse bomb.

Zenyatta against Tracer is difficult as her blink/rewind cancels the discord orb.

Defending Nubani I tend to use Torbjorn and put his turret in the building opposite the capture point.

You are right though. A decent composition and team makes a world of difference and 3 pharahs was unlikely to ever succeed on defense.

Sorry our group all went to eat after you joined last night, Mockingbird.

Glad you got some decent games in though. Playing with numpties is beyond frustrating.

We had a ranked KotH game last where we owned round 1, then they switched up their team comp and strategy and owned us 3 in a row while my team didn't adjust and just kept trickling to their tight group of zarya, Dva, reaper, lucio with a harassing tracer and pharah above, over and over until we lost whilst I spammed group up in chat...

Ranked seems to be more extreme in terms of frustration when you solo que. It's either really great or massively frustrating.

No worries - had fun spectating that round watching different play styles.

Whoever was McCree... I have a LOT of practice to do. Watching them pick Pharah out the air with headshots a few times in a row was humbling. More so, the ability the stay back far enough that you don't die every 5 minutes is one I need to work on - live more, run less, enemy gets less ult charge from me!

His point was that "it doesn't feel right"

My point was that most people buying it console don't have a PC so it feels right to them. I own both, and know that controller isn't as precise as keyb + mouse but the "doesn't feel right" goes with time as you get used to the controller.

I'm perfectly happy with using either controller or keyb + mouse.

His point was entirely that the guy has both, why did he buy it on console... that was all.

I assume you bought on the PC, not console?

Ha yeah that was me on McCree. Probably the best game I've had with him to be fair. It helped that the Mercy was pocketing me quite a bit and kept my health topped up and then was damage boosting me a fair bit when I didn't need HP.
Yeah surviving is key in this game. Respawn timers are long and the walk back to the action for the slower heroes takes forever and numbers usually decide team fights. Especially in KotH or on defense.

I used to main McCree on PS4 and although aiming is tough on console, the game plays much slower and I had gotten pretty decent at aiming on controllers. Switching to PC after over 10 years away from PC gaming was tough. The pace of the game is much quicker and my mouse accuracy was way worse than with a controller initially.
I pretty much ignored hit scan heroes until my mouse aim got up to par. I feel like it's getting there now and the was one of the few games I've had on McCree since.

Ilios 2 - 2 last map we hold 99% they cap and get to 85ish % enemy dva ults 2 of my team dies im matrixing as much dmg as i can enemy zarya ults with mecree... my dva ult pops and boom got a 6 man team kill :) and we won too.. US servers have been really decent since zen/dva patch..

Then next 2 games server crashed twice lol

Yup, no way to boost it beyond wins, medals and group. Though I heard it's a case of 1 medal gives x XP, and even 5 medals would give the same as 1 medal.

It flashes up at the bottom when it's adding up (x for a win, x for a consecutive game without leaving, x per medal etc).

Last night I was the saltiest, sandiest little butthole of a player all night. I was tilted pretty much the whole time. I managed not to take it out on my team too much, but there were a few horrible moments. I would probably NOT have wanted to play with me.

You know when it feels like every group you join, you get forced into support? I joined one group (attack payload game), waited to see if anyone picked, and when nobody did I went McCree. We had one person pick a tank, one pick, Genji, then the remaining three people (after 10-15 seconds) all picked McCree. I typed "I'm not sure we need 4 McCrees" and two of them switched to soldier...

I know I could have made the switch to healer (yet again...) but I'd kind of reached the point of "oh FFS, if you're picking 5th and there's no healer..." and bloody mindedness set in.

Trying to see it from the other side, maybe people without SSD installs get annoyed by always picking last, I dunno.

Weirdly, we actually won that round despite having no healer. I think we lucked out a lot in the enemy team composition (no good flankers, no Rein) and just basically battered them backwards whenever they poked their heads out.
