Overwatch

I do agree with them to a large extent, especially when consider that torb is quite possibly the weakest and easily countered hero in the current meta.

It's funny because people used to moan about the damage and range of his auto turret, and yet without so much as a nerf he has become one of the weaker characters.

I used to use him a lot in Quickplay, but his turret is really easy to shut down now unless it's ulted and he's quite squishy.

Indeed. It was the same with Bastion for a while too. Though, I think those heroes will always have weight in sub par ranks because people generally play whatever they want, ignoring the Overwatch dynamic of switching based on your opponents counters. At higher ranks, heroes like Torb just have no utility and his kit seems to offer nothing. I still think there's a place for Bast and I've always liked playing him super aggressively on attack, though of course that can go wrong so quickly.

If he can survive for a while and collect enough armour to kit out his team-mates he has a use.

But whenever I see Torb on my team in competitive I assume we're going to lose...

I think I could count on one hand the amount of Torbs I've played with who actually stray away from there turret to collect scrap xD

Had a few decent games last night but one in particular where counter-picking really made the difference...

In my group of three were Rein, Road-Hog and me as Zen, with the others on the team being Lucio + 2 DPSs... after a minute or so it was becoming apparent that the other team had a pretty decent Tracer and Genji - both Lucio and I were getting picked off repeatedly despite the team's efforts. Solution? I switched to Winston giving us a triple-tank setup which we hoped would be awkward for the Tracer + Genji combo to deal with. It worked great! Eventually one of them switched to Reaper but by then it was too late

Ahhh Winston... the most under valued character in the game.

Well, by the larger community I mean. If half the players maining DPS classes complaining about enemy Genjis actually bothered to try him out...

In ranked? Got all the way back up to 2645 Wednesday morning but quickly began to fall again. Currently around 2400 I believe, which I'm more then happy with tbh. Doubt I'll get to diamond, just don't think I'm good enough xD
The ranks are interesting this season. I haven't had much chance to play but have seen Season 1 rank 45s in Diamond. Yet they are outright terrible. I mean to the extent I'm getting gold medals on kills as a healer.

Not sure if I've just been unlucky but I'm just aiming to touch into diamond and then forgot about it. With the limit of 500 points to queue I can't go any higher otherwise I'll be unable to play with my friends.

I think it's rare most people get paired with GENUINELY incompetent players past rank 2300. Loosing games now is either down to bad picks, poor communication or just getting outplayed by teams that are just more on form.

People seem to think they're a hell of a lot better then they are. Not just that, but they think they're good ALL the time leading to this weird sense of entitlement in the ranking system. If you've been hovering around the same rank for a week purely solo queing, that's probably where you should be and the system is working. Not everyone can be Diamond+. Most of us have to be fodder for the better players.

Yep... I love Winston, he's a riot to play and it feels great taking out the classes he's designed to deal with (especially when you halt a Genji mid-ult)... I think the idea that he isn't good comes from a combination of people not understanding how to play him right and also this bizarre belief that his ultimate is completely terrible (I don't agree, it can get a heck of a lot done from a team perspective, can be a great counter to enemy ults too... it just doesn't tend to get massive multikills on its own)

Indeed! He's probably my favourite tank after Zarya. Like you said, people just don't know how to play him. They seem to think 'well, he's a tank with a leap ability, I'll just jump anywhere and grab some kills cus I can tank all the damage n that'.
In reality I'd say he's a lot more like Roadhog in that he could almost count as a DPS pick. You wouldn't necessarily want either as your one and only tank, they're just great off tank picks nearly all of the time.

Oh for sure people could be having an off day. Just keep seeing low ranks in season 1 now in diamond who just don't deserve to be there imo.

I have no illusion on how good I am. I got to rank 70 in season 1 and sat there solo queue comfortably. This season I have primarily played with friends who are 2300-2600. I'm sitting at 2900. If I tried to get back to where I was I'd be unable to play with them... So I'm quite content.

It's frustrating when you see someone that isn't playing at the quality of their supposed rank is all I'm getting at.

Wowowow, the ratings have wiped again?

No apologies, I meant MY rating has crashed down due to queuing on my own and not being cable to carry on DPS (due to other people having all selected it). I lost 4 in a row at 1 point.

Queuing with suitable people will help me build it back up :)

I will be on in a hour or so for some games if people are about

My ranking is hovering around 2500- 2600 only been playing with randoms though not been playing as much this season battnet is DooMeR#2550

My 12 year old nephew is chomping at the bit to play this game! I never heard of this game until he mentioned.

We both play TF2 together and having converted my nephew to PC games, I have a couple of questions before pulling the trigger:

How is the community, by that, are they newbie friendly and not toxic?

Is the game relatively easy to play? Shamelessly this question is for me - My nephew is like a sponge and now beats me on TF2!
