Overwatch

Anyone else think Pharah is OP as hell?

I'm hovering at an SR of 1950/2200 and literally, she seems un-killable by my team-mates every damn game.

Me and a couple of guys got absolute destroyed by multiple Pharahs, and we all took it in turns to take her down with our comp to counter her (Roadhog, Soldier, Ana, Mccree, Zenyatta) but its ridiculous.

- You get some damage on her and she hides around a corner.
- Mercy will just follow her and if you try and take down the mercy Pharah just kills you.
- If you look up for the Pharah the enemy tank/dps will just get a free kill off of you.

It's becoming so annoying that I think shes ruining the game for me; I'm no-where near a Pharah main and I played her the other day when we needed some damage and I ruined the enemy....I really think she needs some form of nerf.

Anyone else think Pharah is OP as hell?

As largely a Pharah main myself and so perhaps biased - my answer is no not at all...

Like several of the heroes she is hard to balance for all levels of play... at the lower ranks a good Pharah player can walk all over teams... at higher ranks where people can aim better (for example I play around ~2700 most of the time) she gets shutdown very very easily by comps containing the heroes you mention (or even just a single good Mcree/Soldier/Dva)... It creates a bit of an impossible situation - if you nerf her even slightly she will become unplayable at the higher ranks...

Since my rank has fluctuated plenty across the seasons (from ~2000 to ~3000) I've been on both ends; totally crushing lower level games and having no impact then eventually being forced to switch in higher level ones...

I notice your list doesn't mention Dva...? She's very good for keeping the rockets at bay while a S76/Zen/Mcree/Ana combo does their work - and always go for the mercy first as well!!!

As a Soldier main, that's the harder bit. Killing Mercy, then killing Phara, before Phara gets you. Unlike say Dva where I know I can drop a heal and go toe to toe with Dva, if I try and heal through Phara, it doesn't work as I'm basically dropping a big target for her to shoot at. Although a very good Phara can dominate, I wouldn't say she's OP. Counter properly and you can usually deal with her.

Actually more annoying was a game where the Phara was terrible, spent most her time running about, but my team kept on at me to kill Phara and actually I wasted a lot of time and died too often, trying to find the bleeder as she didn't fly much!

I'm not sure how much this would help... or at least I'm not sure Blizzard have a problem with locating the offensive language in chat etc. (unless they've stated this and I missed it?)

I expect they probably have a largely automated system, which when an individual player is reported for the same offensive many times in relatively quick succession might eventually escalate into a real person from Blizzard looking into that person, reviewing the games they were reported in and deciding if any action needs to be taken... Having to additionally make their reporting system (which must contain a vast amount of data even just logging reports) additionally store quotations from the chat or references to them seems un-necessary

yes they would, but with this they would not need to review the matches,

you have a summary with exact wording used, & the user does need to quote long messages taking them out of the game

Clicked... saw whose video it was... clicked away... no thanks

It's so easy to quote somebody out of context and make them out to be something they aren't though... they'd still end up having to review the matches in a lot of cases...

e.g. a guy gets reported for calling someone an offensive name, but it actually turns out that other person had been hurling racist slurs and nastiness at them for the entirety of the round leading up to that point...

Care to elaborate? I Always found his videos helpful though he does bang on a bit :)

If you like... Before I do though I'll just say I've nothing against the guy personally, and clearly this is just my opinion; he has a successful channel so must be doing something right and clearly plenty of people don't have any problem with him; that's good, best of luck to him - inb4 I'm just jealous, butthurt, whatever... there...

As for why it's not my cup of tea... his "content" is bare minimum effort pushed out frantically in the most click-bait-y fashion possible... often making an entire video (repeating himself numerous times to stretch for that magic 10+ minute ad revenue boundary!) just to discuss a one-line bugfix on the PTR or a tiny snippet of information about an upcoming change. New hero rumored? Look forward to a video discussing the rumor, 2+ speculatory videos in the run up to the possible release, another video slowly going through every skin, emote etc. for the hero, another discussing the fact that they've been revealed... oh and of course a "pro tips for X" video despite the hero barely existing for long enough to develop such strategies... Hero tweak coming to PTR? Expect 1 extremely over-the-top "hero X is dead" "massive nerf/buff coming on PTR" "RIP hero X" video which is 10 minutes of talking about almost nothing, followed of course by another separate video showing PTR gameplay etc. You can tell he just sits down, hits a timer and tries to freestyle about the most piecemeal topic possible for 10 minutes - no pre-planning or thought at all... which is why so often you find him contradicting himself (always in different videos, but sometimes even within the 10 minutes of rambling in a single video)... for instance he'll make a video going on about how always sticking to the current meta comp is bad followed by one saying the complete opposite; the meta is the meta for a reason and you should play it to rank up... It's like he has no knowledge of his own former opinions (if they can really even be called his opinions in the first place) in the quest to create more content asap...

And onto the most major sin - his "tips" and advice are just not that good... my impression is he plays with some very very good players a lot of the time (e.g. Valkia) and although it's a team game etc. and he must contribute in some way he's not the one making the plays and not the one calling the shots... which is why his "coaching" videos etc. just boil down to him watching the footage and going "oh yeah, that was bad you got killed there"... "oh you wasted your ult there, maybe you shouldn't have used it"... rather than making any comments with real substance that show that he understands the game to a high level (which on paper he is... not that he likes to mention it; oh wait he literally can't wait to make an offhand comment about how he's GM or whatever in every video). For example - a video about how to deal with Symettra after her buff; his advice which was pretty much repeated about 5 or 6 times to span 10 minutes boiled down to "just kill her"... I even recall him saying something like "guys, it's easy just take her out, just kill her, it's that simple"... Really? Why not suggest taking a Winston or a character who can help destroy the turrets? Pharah to take off-angles and shoot the turrets from behind, and to take Sym out from range, etc? Sending flankers to hunt out the teleporter/shield-gen to take away her value?... but no "just kill her" - thanks for wasting my time... There are countless examples of this across the channel too...

he is pretty crap indeed

Agree with a lot of what you've said, his videos do feature a lot of "fill" and some of his "tips" are well daft.

On the hole I think he's got good intentions and if you're a total novice to the game his tutorial videos can be helpful but I'd definitely take some of what he says with a pinch of salt.

I've no doubt at all that he has good intentions and (based solely on the persona he presents) he seems like a nice enough guy... it's his living and all he's doing is pandering to what will make the most money the fastest - nothing wrong with that but just personally I've found it harder and harder to watch his content as it's become more lazy and I've discovered other Youtubers who I feel I get more value out of watching, that's all

Summed him up perfectly, I totally agree.

Seems to be broken at the minute. Been trying to join the new co-op for 10 minutes, server errors. Not just me too. Oh well, it can wait.

Not happy they've taken my 3 on 3 though!
