Pain - whats the worst?

A friend of mine got one of his testicles caught in the door frame as the door slammed shut (don't ask me how cause I don't know). It exploded (his testicle, not the door). I reckon that would be quite painful.

Sorry but i couldnt help but laugh at that :D :o

I have been shot, stabbed, , been knocked out cold more times than I care to think about in more ways than most people can imagine, been kicked in the nuts hard enough to lift me clear of the ground.

You sound popular :p

Walking around for TWO days with ~11 broken / fractured bones in your foot because the doctor who examined you told you it was just a pulled muscle, refusing to issue you crutches hurts.

It really, really hurts.

I got told a million times how much of a wuss i was complaining about the pain.

Then i go back to the hospital and find out it wasnt a pulled muscle at all, it really wasnt.

Got treated like a king after that! :P But damn, walking around with broken bones ALL around your foot is pure agony.

What else? bellyflop from a high ropeswing = 2 broken / a couple of bruised ribs, having to swim to the side while all of your mates laugh at you, another fun one, and sheer pain again

I'm not sure that anything can really be classified as the worst pain. Pain can come in different forms and be as bad as each other.

Personally burning the soles of my feet on very hot sand was unbearable. I had to dive on a sunbed, lucky no one was on it because it wouldn't have stopped me.

He's American ;)

Most pain I ever had was a snapped collar bone (two broken ends swimming around and scraping against each other) and broken sternum (chest).

Oooh yes, collar bone and ribs in one go = passing out and being physically ill from pain.

Hmmm, still not sure which Id rather have though, the toothache or that.

Research done into pain tolerance involves electric shocks to the nerves of your teeth. I'd guess that pain researchers probably know where to look for painful sensations, so I'd guess teeth is going to be the big one.

Well im not sure its as easy to create kidney stones or strange diseases in test patients as it is to shock someones teeth..They also cant do anything that will endanger the patients life or which might seriously damage them...

The teeth are probably the safest place that will cause the least damage to the test subjects. Im not sure theyd get many volunteers if they said they were gonna snap your bones and then rub the ends together.

I had a kidney infection about 18 months ago. They diagnosed it as backache first, and made me rest with a hot water bottle against it... which made it 10x worse. By the time I went back to the doctors, I could barely walk and nearly passed out in the surgery. I've never known pain like that.

I used to get ear infections every year when I was little too, and they hurt so much that I used to cry until we went to the doctors. I still get the odd twinge in my ears, and it feels like someone's shoved a knitting needle in my ear. Ow!!

Hope your tooth gets sorted soon Pebbles.
I know how you feel Lostkat i had a lot of ear problems when i was younger and still to this day, i few weeks ago i had a kidney infection. I nearly passed out when i got to the doctors :(

True, but I'm not sure how much difference the source of the pain makes to the sensation in the brain.
