I've taken it back to him today and he is going to "see what he can do"
Initially he tried telling me there is nothing he can do, but fairly quickly changed his mind and said he can try and colour match it.
and to be clear the mirror cap was dropped off by the missus in the car it belonged to, the guy took the paint code off the inside of the door.
he chose that option, he didn't ask for the old cap to be left or explain that paint code alone might not match the original
awesome, let me know where I can buy my car for £80 and I'll have 5000 of them please. The amount you paid to get that done is probably more than what your car is worth! Lol
Any business that thinks 'it doesn't really matter' deserves to die and die quickly. It's an 8 year old run of the mill car, doesn't really matter if its perfect......
In my experience most people in this industry treat women differently to men.I've taken it back to him today and he is going to "see what he can do"

At the end of the day the guy doing the spraying is the "expert" so you'd expect him to know the best way to do it.I'm confused, did you not take the mirror cover to the guy with the original colour still on them?
As all he'd do, is scan that paint, do a test on a sample piece, see it wasn't right, adjust the mix until it matches the test piece with the old mirror cover, then spray the mirror covers.

more DIY than car related but still applies to some degree. At the end of the day the guy doing the spraying is the "expert" so you'd expect him to know the best way to do it.

What cannot be seen cannot be seenImagine how bad his crash damage repairs, let alone resprays must be![]()

Sounds like it was just a one-off thenThis is the frustrating bit, he has repaired my car before when I reversed into a skip and you cannot tell (Black Octavia)
he's been doing this for over 40 years he said, so, mildy frustrating that he has just used the paint code instead of using his experience to know that, that would likely have caused a paint mismatch.
his only argument was that the mirror was dropped off and he didn't have the car outside to match it against, but if he had asked I would have left him the old mirror cap (like I've done this time)
I think like others have said he just couldn't be bothered with it being such a small job.
at least he's resolving it!This is the frustrating bit, he has repaired my car before when I reversed into a skip and you cannot tell (Black Octavia)
