Pakistan vs India Official thread ***spoilers***

Sehwag has everything but a 400 against Pakistan, lets hope he gets there tomorrow :D It would really demoralise the Pakistani's if these 2 got to the 680 by themselves and I wouldn't put it past them, both have reputations for being able to bat for long times so this could get quite embarrassing. And I was slating the Indian bowlers for no reason, these Pakistani's are just as bad :p

Great batting, but a pointless pitch it seems.

A disgrace of a pitch tbh, people moan when there is anything in it for the bowlers but this pitch is taking the mick. Recently the test surfaces in Aussie land were real good, at the start a good pitch with something in it for the fast bowlers, the batsman had to dig in and the longer the stay the easier it got to bat. Come day 4 and 5 the spinners come into play. This is what Test match pitches should be like.

I haven't seen any footage at all to be honest but the scores tell a tale. Has their been no turn at all then?

I think Singh and Kaneria have found a little but the batsman they bowled at are so settled that they just whooping them around. Their confidence is not good so they aren't getting balls in the right area either, not many bowlers can take a whipping like they have taken and still be on the money for most of their balls. The good balls are disappearing so you imagine what happens to the bad ones!

Unlucky for sehwag and dravid, they didnt break the record for highest opening partnership, sehwag was caught behind on 254, the partnership was on 410 :p

Still, well played to them both, lets just hope the next test match offers something to the bowlers.

The second test started today, Pakistan won the toss and chose to bat first.

At the end of Day 1, Pakistan are on 379-4.

Inzamam-ul-Haq not out 79
Shahid Afridi not out 85

It is once again a batting pitch but not as bad as the lahore one, this one 'should' offer more to the bowlers. Younis Khan and Mohammad Yousuf also chipped in with half centuries, so Pakistan at this stage will be looking at about 550+ then putting India into bat.

One strange decision by the Pakistan side was to leave out Rana Naveed and replace him by Razzaq, who is nowhere near as good a bowler. Hes a better batter yes, but on this pitch Pakistan should be looking to keep their strong bowlers if not add another one in there. Sami was replaced by Mohammed Asif aswel which is kind of understandable, the guy has been playing well so deserves a chance.

India however, have left out Ganguly in place off an extra bowler, definately a positive move by India imo for this pitch. The new lad RP Singh has looked quite impressive, hes got a decent bowling action and its his test debut and hes already taken 3 big wickets. Not only that but he could have had a wicket on his very first ball, could have been caught by Kumble who just didnt see it coming and had to duck out of the way, unlucky for the bowler there. Yuvraj did a blinding catch aswel btw to dismiss Younis Khan, it looked like the ball was smashed for 4, very strange celebration by him though lol.

Good effort by RP Singh, saw him in some ODI matches and he looked a nice neat and tidy bowler. A bit on the expensive side but he picked up some big wickets. I have been saying about Pathan for a long time now he is concentrating on his batting too much, he is India's lead fast bowler and he is letting the team down big time and I think he should get his priorities in order. Top bowlers don't go for over 6 an over in a test match.

I was hoping Sehwag would have taken Lara's record as well though. :(

Don't worry mate, he has 2 more matches left still :p

The second test looks to be heading for a draw aswel, bloody indians just wont collapse  :p

Unlike the English who did a damn fine job of collapsing lol:p. Looks like Dhoni and Pathan are doing a good job of batting...as usual pakistan bowling is crap...nothing new there and plus inzi isnt playing as hes injured his back...so even if they bowl india out...still cant see pakistan winning tbh.

I dont think its a case of Pakistans bowling being crap, more a case of India's batsmen being very good. If a miracle does happen and they do collapse, what are the chances of them collapsing again in the 2nd innings? Not much tbh. Thats why India are such a good test side, on any half decent batting pitch its VERY HARD for any team to beat them. In this game they actually took a batsmen out and put in an extra bowler, but they still arent rolling over.

One thing for sure though, they are a class side. Both teams have been playing so well that its hard to see how any team is gonna win. Pakistan have a strong middle order which can be explosive and get quick runs, India has class batsmen all the way down! Pakistan has the better fast bowlers, India has the better spin. Both just quality sides, which should always be in the top 5 in the world because imo there are very few better teams out there.

I'm quite suprised really as this is very unlike India to stand up like this when chasing a huge score, 2nd time in 2 matches!

Was well disappointed to see Tendulkar go, he walked but he wasn't out. Was hoping for a big score from the little master. He has had too many bad decisions in his career and really shouldn't of walked imo but by walking the umpire had no choice. I think he felt the ball on his glove so walked, he didn't realise his glove wasn't on his bat so he wasn't out!

Kaneria and Afridi need to keep their mouths quiet as well on the pitch, a lot of chit chat but little substance to their bowling in this match so they should concentrate on that.

Dravid was his brilliant self, the guy now averages over 59 for India and averages 67 away from home which in this day and age is unbelievable. Good contribution by Laxman as well. Pathan with a nice knock but special praise has be reserved for Dhoni as he hit a great century. 50 off 34 balls and 100 of 93 balls. Amazing stuff, he was being targetted by Akhtar and his 93mph shot deliveries but Dhoni was having none of it. He looks a great prospect, just gotta see how he does abroad now....

Younis Khan on 156 now and Yousuf on 110.

I just don't see the point of this series so far, I think someone in the Pakistan board should get fined heavily or thrown out. They playing on disgraceful wickets and test pitches like this just ruin the game. The Pakistani's were scaring India with their rumoured green tops and Akhtar in form, Akhtar has taken one wicket and even that was not out and pretty much everyone has been smacked about.

I reckon it is just batting practise and a time for players who get exposed on foreign pitches to get their averages up ;)

It is just batting practise really, nothing more. Something to bring the averages up.

You have to remember that England were knocked over on these same pitches, so a result is possible at times. Maybe Pakistan were hoping that if Shoaib Akhtar put enough pressure on India they too would self destruct, but its been quite the opposite really.

Match has been drawn, hardly suprising. The next one is in karachi which 'should' give more swing bowling, its slightly more humid there and the pitch should be greener, so hopefully we will see a result but you never know. I just hope Pakistan can carry on this sort of batting when they come to alien conditions here in England in the summer. That will be the real test for them.

England are gonna have a hard time in India, a very very hard time lol. I would be absolutely amazed if they managed to win one test.

One of the most boring series in recent years so far, the fact that this thread is only 2 pages long highlights that, I thought it would be brimming by now:)

Considering that we haven't played since the Pak. debacle & it will be a different side touring India + they haven't played at home since November I'd love to know how you came to that conclusion?:)

India are a very hard team to beat at home as it is, but if you have been watching this series you will see how on form the batsmen are, the same bowlers that tore through England are being made to look like nothing at all, they are simply getting some good batting practice out there, at their best they probably have the best batting line up in the world. The pitches in India wont be 'that' different, but there will be something more there to aid the spinners. England have shown that they can even collapse on batting surfaces, something which India havent even looked close to doing. Englands spin dept has always looked on weak side, so they will have to rely on their pace bowlers to do the job, but somehow I dont think they will prepare those types of pitches, because they will be aware of Englands strong points, that is probably India's weakest point (their pace bowling). England can do it though, before the ashes started I couldnt see them winning that, so obviously anything is possible :)

Cant really comment on the England team changes because im not upto date with that, but id guess Simon Jones will be there, he will have to play a major role if England have any hope of winning, and I know they are taking that new young spinner Panesar who I cant really comment on because iv never seen him play.

Blimey, looks like a proper game on the cards this time round. Pak. are 161-7 & Pathan got a hat-trick in the very first over
Can the thread starter please make a video of it as I haven't seen it yet:)

Absolutely unbelievable stuff this morning.

Pakistan lost the toss and were sent into bat, and in the very first over Irfan Pathan gets a hat-trick and Pakistan are 0-3. The worst possible start ever... but it got worse, they soon collapsed further to 39-6, the ball was swinging everywhere, there was a lot of movement, and it looked like they werent even gonna reach 50.

Akmal has batted superbly and rescued us, hes just got his century, probably the best century hes ever got considered the situation when he came in. Pakistan have just passed the 200 mark, with 7 out, so its ONE HELL of a recovery. No Inzamam today to come in and save the team either, so something special was needed at 39-6, and Akmal has just played the innings of his life.
