Panorama: Hooligans

As posted by 5ingh
Nobody has said that all England fans are hooligans, though. All fans are expected to behave well, not the opposite. Everyone wants to see all fans having fun together. Its a minority, yes - 99% of fans are great. Hopefully things will get better, because just imagine a black/asian fan heading over there and witnessing this for themselves.

Right, there were some asians on our campsite in Germany. They were the only ones who tried to start some trouble one night when they had too much pop. Started to get mouthy with other EF on the campsite, who tbh, tried to calm them down. (There were 3 of them).

Don't try and paint a picture of just white english fans being hooligans, because it is not the case. They come from all cultures.
I witnessed very little trouble, the people who caused the trouble didn't want to watch the game. They just wanted to go and cause trouble in the town centres because Germany was easy to get to.
There was no reported violence in Japan in 2002, why, because your average chav wouldn't be able to afford to go half way around the world. The Raeal football fans went though.

No, I think you are taking it down a different path. Maybe I should have explained why I said that. At the beginning of the documentary they were taunting German fans: "I'd rather be a **** than a kraut" etc and there was a black English fan standing there absolutely shocked, and close to tears.

Do you reckon non-white England hooligans will head over there and sing racist songs, when they can be easily attacked back themselves? Who will defend them when their own white counter-parts are being racist/offensive aswell.

Fair enough whilst I watched the program I didn't see that bit (which is racist), although someone from say the USA wouldn’t understand it as such.

Most of the rest of the chanting seemed to be stuff about WW2, which whilst unpleasant, stupid, jingoistic, nationalist, prejudice and highly yob cultureish wasn't racist.

It was absolutely appalling (although equally you’ve got to realise those programs are set up to get a story – reporters often buy drinks, give money and generally egg on to encourage the sort of behaviour they want to film – although that’s much less likely in this particular case), don’t get me wrong, but it was more weekend + drink yob culture than anything else and I don’t think it’s possible to get rid or one without getting rid of the other.

The complete opposite. They can, but thats pretty obvious.

Yep unfortunately the fastest growing area of racist abuse, violence and even killing in the UK today is between black-african and west/mid asian ethnicities.

And of course the use of mild racial/ethnic slurs are worldwide: “goree” “tawa” “kala” (you can find this in Britain) or “koku-jin” or “kafir” etc. etc. It’s just human nature. :(

Well at least we didn't stab him to death a, which is what a Galatasiri (SP?) supporter would have done to one of ours in the same situation.

There's nothing like throwing every Turk supporter into the same bracket is there?

All this ashamed to be English crap makes me sick. If you are ashamed then **** off out the country then.

Personally i am ashamed of our press and ashamed of the weak lilly livered wimps that jump on any sensationalist rubbish.
GROW YOUR OWN MINDS.

You're talking utter tosh. I was commenting on what was going on in the TV programme.

Ah, the old argument 'If you don't like this country them **** *** out of it!'. Blah, blah, blah, i've heard it all before.

The thugs in the programme DID make me ashamed to be English. You, malc30, strike me as a bit of a hot-headed thug yourself! If you didn't find the actions of the England fans in that programme disgusting, then you're just as bad as them.

If you think i'm 'lilly livered' just because i find these thug's (wrapped in the flag of my country, incidently), actions despicable then so be it. To call the programme 'sensationalist' is utter garbage. The events happened on my screen right in front of eyes. Get your head out of the sand malc30.

And less of the personal attacks. To tell me (and any others who feel the same as me) to '**** off out of the country' because i was disgusted at the thugs actions rather sums you up.
