Parcelforce, what a joke.

That's nothing.

Some couriers class my address as rural (admittedly, it is a mile from a rural village and it can be a bugger to get to, if you come from the opposite end) but the main road can get you here in 10 minutes from the DVLA (which isn't exactly in the middle of nowhere).

..because they class it as rural they will hold items if they're received on weekdays, and deliver them on saturdays so they "don't have to go all the way out for 1 item".

It's a nightmare ordering online when I can't select the decent couriers. Luckily, we have CCTV coverage and an Infra red sounder that is triggered when someone comes down the driveway.

I've been sat downstairs in the kitchen for the last hour watching TV as I had a delivery coming, I didn't hear any knock and the doorbell wasn't rung, I went back out into the hallway and saw the "We've been and you were out" card in the letterbox.

He didn't even bother trying to deliver the item, I know this happened while I was downstairs as the card wasn't there when I went down, I didn't have the TV on loud or anything either, didn't hear a knock or the doorbell, what a ******.

Anybody else had this with any delivery services?

Going to ring up and complain later, I have to wait until 16:00 then I have to go and collect it.

Happens a lot. They should have to wait atleast 2 minutes at a door. Sometimes you just can't make it in the 24 seconds they wait for you.

Say if you have 25/30 packets to deliver on that day that can’t fit through the letterbox, say 30 x 2 Mins = 1Hr wasted just standing about looking at a door this isn’t going to happen I’m afraid. 3/4 nocks is enough if you take more that 24 seconds to acknowledge you’re in it’s your fault.

Same company and had the same thing happen to me 3 times now.

It doesnt take you 2 minutes to get from anywhere in your house, whether its from the back garden, the toilet, or pulling some trousers on.

Whenever I have a delivery the guy comes then to the door and then knocks on, I usually get to the door within about 10 seconds and then he gives me the sheet to sign and goes off to the van to pull out the package, doesn't take him long and then he's on his way, this is for RM and Citylink alike. No problems and a happy customer here :)

More like 70-100 for most drivers. And people wonder why they don't sit there for 5 minutes waiting for an answer :D

I know people that moan don’t know the bigger picture and the huge amount of packets/parcels couriers/postal workers deliver its huge! It’s getting even busier as well, her at RM it is supposed to quite down during summer it’s not :(

Unbelievable!

I bought a 200GBP Camcorder from an online site last week, usually it is delivered either Royal Mail (PostMan... who is reliable) or CityLink (who've so far, never failed to deliver reliably or mess up). Didn't realise that online retailer also used ParcelForce... delivered by some numb nuts who:

a) didn't knock / ring my bell even though i was home all day
b) didn't leave a card at all
c) left my item under my Bicycle parked outside my apartment (there was a weatherproof net over it but it was half under the covers!:o)

Absolutely disgraceful as a parcel service.

/angry

might be worth cycling round one day after parcelforce van to see what free goodies i can find to be honest.

I don't really care about the bigger picture to be honest. As a courier account holder I dont see the rates I pay coming down even tho the couriers are getting busier.... I enjoy a reasonable relationship with most of the couriers that deliver to me and the ones I send stuff with. I even think my local depot is OK. However, some areas of the country I just dread having to send stuff to because I know the local depot is badly run and there is a good chance my consignment will at best be delayed.

Sadly, courier/postal workers your customers and our customers just don't care if you've got lots to do. We've got lots to do and we pay good money and expect a reliable service. If we don't get that due to theft, damage, not delivering on time then you ARE going to hear about it. Sadly you rarely hear about the good service because we just automatically expect that. I will say however, that people who kick off because they didn't hear the door go are usually a bunch of jokers. I can't remember the last time I missed a delivery when I was actually at home and often it can be a good 2 minutes before I answer the door because I always lose my keys.

Well that’s just being narrowed minded; you aren’t the only person a courier delivers to on that day. There could be a number of different circumstances as to why the driver can make it to your house, name a business or service that is perfect? None. At the end of the day the number 1 priority is to deliver the package to you on time, not doing so makes the couriers/postal workers job much harder.
