Parking Issue

As far as I know trade plates/insurance can only be used to collect/delivery/test drive vehicles. If he's just fetching random vehicles home then it's feasible they're not taxed/insured - Have a word with the old bill. They put you straight if nothing else.

It's probably just their courtesy car he is taking home. A guy who lives by my parents has a different kia every day but they all have normal plates.

Which is quite normal for that industry.

Salesman job often comes with a car, but it could be any car and can change day to day.
Its partly why virtually no car on a car lot has any fuel in it. They will be used and just topped a few quid to get them home and back. No point putting any more in as that same day they may get a different car.

Could you not put a small dropped kerb in front of the path for "push chair" access.

Apply to the council for permission to install a drop kerb at the end of the path.

Install drop kerb.

Report neighbour to the council each time they block access to your path with drop kerb.

The council will eventually send them a letter and hopefully they will get the message.

My dad had something similar, guy has a double drive way + garage and parks on the road making it hard for my dad to reverse out of his drive. So my dad just started parking where he did, or if he already got there first, parking as close as possible to his car. They've had a few arguments about it, and every time I go to my dads I still see the two cars parked as close to each other as possible, no progress has been made. The guy still never parks on his drive.

Your dad needs to park on his drive.

He does with his car, it's his work van. Situation is a PITA to explain. Dad's drive has 2 spaces, he parks his car, and step mum parks her car on it. The road has no yellow lines only dropped kerbs. Dad would park his work van directly opposite his driveway, that way he only inconveniences himself reversing out of his drive. For some context the neighbours house is on the corner, so his garage/dropped kerb is in the road where my dad lives but the front of his house isn't. The guy has space on his drive for 2 cars and a garage, he lives on his own and has no other vehicles and he parks directly opposite my dad's driveway.

Yeah sorry, wasn't clear, your dad should park on the blokes drive. Not a criminal act so the police won't give a damn.

I sympathise with him tbh. I have a similar issue. Got a 2 car drive and 3 cars. My neighbour has a 2 car drive and 2 cars. For some reason he's taken to parking one car (the little hatchback) bang in the middle of his drive and his c class in the visitors parking bay. It wouldn't be an issue really except he parks bang in the middle of the 2 car bay. Which means I can't fit in so have to park in the road.
Its not really a problem for me but it means another of my neighbours is stuck looking at my pickup instead of what is quite a nice view. Something I don't really want to do to them.

Kai start parking on your neighbours drive! when they kick up a stink you can just say, you stop parking like a &£^% and I will stop parking like a ")(&

Update, as I've been away with work not had the chance to review the comments until now.

So last week my wife has parked her car there a few times as she has been working from home. This has resulted in the neighbour getting her parents (they live in the same street - 4 houses down) to park and leave the car there for long durations. The parents have a similar attitude and are inconsiderate. They are now simply playing tag, and moving the cars when not in use.

I've attached the overview print i found, its a privately built estate so I'm not sure of the circumstances but its starting to become an issue. Asking nicely has clearly not worked.

Me being plot 7.

I think the problem is that they are seeing it as the front of their house. But it is equally the front of yours. Tricky one this that could end up in a legal argument.
I would try to get the end of the path dropped by the council for push/wheel chair access.
Have you checked your deeds for any covenants regarding parking.
Andi.

Find out who governs the parking and talk to them. If it's council run, find what their policy is on blocking those paths. If it's a privately run estate, see what the estate management can do. In both cases, ask them to enforce the rules as required if they benefit you.

It may be the case that you will have to have work done to solve this issue. I had a neighbour parking awkwardly close to my small drive for years (they had a lot of vehicles), so in the end I put in a massive drive (just like theirs) and now they have nowhere to park their vans and buses. Sure I get people parked over the ends, but no large vehicles and I always have plenty of room to get on and off the drive, or people get ticketed.

There's no point coming back to this thread for advice on mind games, find out what the rules are for your parking area, get them enforced. Your neighbours won't be nice, you have to find out what will force them out of that space in front of your house.
