Pascal Titan-X Launch

I honestly think the 1080 Ti is going to be the faster card, they can't cut it down anymore can they? it'll be barely any faster than the 1080 I think is titan is a stop gap for Nvidia to milk it whilst they get better yields for a full enabled chip and have enough stock of it. I can't wait in till christmas time we should have something else by then :D

I need the card for gaming, some of the games I own have managed to flatten every other card I own.

Civ 5 late in the game on a huge map with a huge empire will be too much for even a 1080 and 6950X CPU, I have tried.:D

Well you're going to be very disappointed then, You do know CIV 5 is more of a CPU intensive game, where the most demanding time consuming part it calculating the other players next moves. not displaying the graphical results.

ti same spec as x but with 8GB.

can't get 8gb Vram on a 384 bit bus the least they can do that is more than 1080 is 9gb but an extra 1gb seems a bit ugh really. I think people could be in for a shock in 4-6 months time I don't mind waiting with my 980 Ti for a faster and cheaper card to come out.

Why do you care if he's disappointed or not? It's his money to spend however he likes. If he wants 4 cards for benchmarking etc, it's still his money and so his choice.

Can only be sold as part of a full system and the system should be flagship based and designed for professional use and deep learning, of course nothing to say stop 8 Pack from building a system with 2, 3 or 4 of these in a Supernova and charging £20,000 for it.

But as of right now OcUK won't be stocking or offering this part in systems.

8 Pack should do it for the Supernova, got to keep the heat on those people in Bolton using the Titan-X as the default card option in the majority of Mid/high to high end systems.

It's a hobby/pastime for the rich and why not? Makes no economic sense but high stuff don't.

My old boss had a hypercar. Needed a £5000 clutch every few thousand miles, tyres lasted about the same at 1200 a tyre, a service was thousands.

I once worked out that it cost him £89 per mile and when he ran ou of cigarettes and drove a mile to the garage that £8 packet was costing him £196.

So people who spend£4K on four of these are no different. If you have the money and its your hobby, why not.

This.

I'm almost envious of that attitude. I've often wondered how much more joy I can have in life if I loosened the purse strings a bit and buy myself what I want on occasion. Or just splash on something stupid once in a while. But no, I'm the typical Scrooge that sits there with super stringent criteria and a whole host of common sense tests that needed to be passed first before even thinking of buying. On the up side, I'll never have money issues in my entire life, on the downside, I've realised I'm a reflection of my father :p

Anyway, when all the online honour certificates/rolls and online gold medals/golden peen awards have been satisfied, looking forward seeing some gaming performance videos!

Not true late in the game.

The thing that cripples it is the graphics or rather trying to load them. This shows itself as a loaded map with a lot of the tile improvements missing or worse still the map won't load at all causing the game to crash.

I have spent thousands of hours over the years playing this game and it has been quite interesting watching how each new generation of GPUs and CPUs have coped with it using uber settings.

enjoy your new card! personally the 980 Ti can do pretty much maxed out at 1080p and 1440p still and even though I'm at 4k the new Titan would be very much welcomed though personally I couldn't put down £1100 of my hard earned cash oh what is essentially 'failed broken' chips and not the fully fledged GP102

Thanks!

It's a very stupid purchase, I know it, and I rejected it on that basis ... but I just could not resist... ;)

I am on 1080p right now, but think will upgrade to 1440p with HDR (when it's out), IMHO even new Titan X is not ready for 4k - I do value high FPS!

So no faster than a 1080 in 4K then? Is that drivers or something?

No just the people doing the reviewing lol.

Just to put things in prospective 2 way Pascal Titans @2160p won't be able to max ROTTR and getting 60fps. There are a number of other modern games where this is also the case.

Thanks!

To guarantee 60fps in nearly every game @2160p you play you would need 3 of the new Pascal Titans, unfortunately NVidia only supports 2 way SLI for games.

GDDR5X will have non power of two sizes.

You just got a titan XP for 1080p??

The titan XP is more than good enough for 3440x1440 or 2560x1440, for 1080p you may as well have got a 1070.

No offense to people that bought them, but I do think there's a 'keeping up with the jonses' mentality sometimes.

i.e They didn't really intend to spend so much as they know it's a bit ridiculous but they've seen others buy it and can't help themselves, and get caught up in the hype.

Glad I'm into other stuff like figure collecting, at least figures hold their value.. tech always drops, though GPU's are the worst for losing value. Motherboards and CPU's these days hold their value very well for quite a while.
