Pascal Titan-X Launch

What i think is bonkers about this launch is my 1080 pre order in may is still not here, yet people who order the Titan today get it in three days, makes my 1080 seem a worthless buy :mad:
 
well reading all the reviews I'm glad I didn't go for the 1080, no I'm not going for this Titan either but if they A. release a 1080 Ti with 98% of the performance just like 980 Ti and Titan X then happy days if they release a card faster than Titan X then even happier days ^_^ looking at this titan though dam it's a good chunk faster than the previous king 980 Ti

God the reviews are awful. That one states "I saw clock speeds nearly hitting 1900 MHz consistently." but when you look at the graph it hit 1900 6 times and fell to 1800 or below 9 times and he later says the average boost was 1838.

How can that be "1900 consistantly"? lol

Clearly under water I can see these cards hitting 2k consistently and they are going to fly.

On air they will throttle, be noisy and hot.

cant see it tbh. A lot of the reason the 980ti was faster than the titan was that it could clock higher. With the right cooling these titan can clock to 1900+, probably 2k which is as good as the 1080 achieves.

so any cut down 1080ti is always going to be slower than the titan this time.

Totally agree.

Ti would make no sense this time.

It's not gonna happen this time round.

Can't wait to get my pascal TX on water. At 2ghz+ this is going to be a monster of a card!!!

Problem is the exchange rate and shortages. A lot of cards have increased by over a £100 so to swap now would mean paying up to £100 more.

If all prices were the same then it wouldnt be an issue. I had a G1 Gaming on pre order at £530 and a EVGA FTW at £560. If I wanted to buy either today then both would cost an extra £130-£140. All those cards you listed are "lessor" cards and the cheapest is £90 more.

Yea people can swap to sometimes a lesser card then their pre order and pay over £100 for the privilege or just wait it out.

Great that Gibbo has allowed certain long pre-order people to swap at no cost but those are the exceptions.

Now the temptation is to sell my two 1080 FTWs and jump on the Titan bandwagon :D

To be fair the price has increased so much I can probably even make money on what I paid for them... Question is how do they stack up against the Titan once I stick them underwater and clock the crap out of them.

Titan is about 30% faster. That was with the 1080 at 1750 ish and Titan at 1600 ish.

Now we know the 1080's can do 2.1-2.2. It also depends how far the Titan goes. If it only does 1800mhz then that 30% gap will start to close. I'd very much like to see it do 2ghz though.

2 X 1080's will be faster by quite a margin in SLI supported games vs single TXP.

Then again unsupported games it will be slower.

SO have I but its not breaking them, its the card failing of its own accord but your warranty refused because you had fitted a water block.

It blows up or develops a fault and your left with an expensive paper weight.

I've had 2 cards now that needed RMA. I won't take that risk with an £1100 card.

Fair enough if it was gigabyte, MSI whom might overlook the missing warranty sticker. But nvidia? No chance.

The whole reason there is a warranty sticker on the card. That's why there is such a thing as waterblock warranty.

Do you think nvidia will let you return a card with no warranty sticker? No chance lol.
