Flux are good for Classics aren't they?

Flux are crap compared to Footman James. Have been calling round all sorts for the past few hours and just paid £675 TPFT for a years insurance with FJ. Quality Going out with step dad to learn the ropes of the car tonight. Gonna be a big change from a diesel corolla!

Yep. Footman James are the cheapest for young drivers with classics. Adrian Flux are probably the next best. I used FJ when I got my first car, a while ago now.

17 and you got insurance for £675, How did you manage that? I would have thought insuring a new driver on a classic mini would be impossible :O.

Footman James mate. They destroy all of the other insurers for classics when you are young!. I don't earn no claims but in all honestly if I was on a real car policy rather than classic I'd be paying SO much more it just wouldn't be worth it.

Gratz. Took me four attempts . Be sure to shop around for your car insurance, check MoneySupermarket et al. Then see if Quidco or another cashback site can get you some cash back. Post Office was already the cheapest insurer for me (could be somebody completely different for you - and this was 3rd party anyway) but Quidco got me £20 cash back.

EDIT: Posting wthout reading the thread = muchophail. Looks like you already have insurance...

I was 17 when I got insurance and I'm insured on my dads Passat 1.8 (1998) fully comp for £1100. Obviously earning no claims but only works out as £800 extra to put me on which for a 17 year old male isnt so bad!

Took it out tonight and it was rather eventful! Blew a fuse, it's been standing for a while and it died of shock, leaving us with no brake lights or indicators. Was er, "fun".

Very, very different. Changing gear takes some thought as you've gotta really find the gear rather than just push right down and right up etc. Pulling away requires muuuch more throttle than I'm used to, causing a couple of stalls!

After replacing the fuse for the lights/indicators we now have no fuel pump for some reason, going to look into it properly tommorrow.

Enjoying it, though. Handling is something else compared to the Corolla.

Definitely up for a Norwich meet when I'm used to actually driving the car! Won't be able to do anything that requires over 18ness, obviously though.

In reply to the above; after one year without any no claims, Bell quoted £800 fully comp. I'm expecting someone like Footman James to quote less than that so I reckon when I'm 19 insurance won't be too bad! Probably will have been sold by then, or just stuffed in the garage as I'll be off to uni.

I do find it odd how people get caught by cameras tbh. Motorway I can inderstand but in 30/40 it's a bit silly really. You should be going slow enough to anticipate and you aint going slow enough you deserve to get caught in those sitations

Slightly OT... But thats not really the case.

On my daily comute off about 30 mins, there is currently 3 new fly overs being built, all with 40mph speed limits. The police regulary sit at at least two of them, litterally just as you get into the limits.

Even with knowing this, there has been times where i sometimes loose track of my speed.
