Passed! Finally.

I spotted you while you were filling up, damn good job I didnt blow on the horn then :D Mini's give a false impression of speed, you dont need to be driving like a loon to have fun!

you soon get used to it, took me a little to master the clutch and the gears as there not spring load so you gotto ram it in there sometimes. you got many mods planned for it ?

Completely the opposite, if you put it in delicately there is no problem at all! Ramming it in is worse.

Only mods planned are some new, slightly larger and body coloured arches, and some new seats one day.

Made a right prat of myself at the petrol station at tesco :( Couldn't get the nozzle in properly for ages and the auto cutoff just didn't work! petrol went all over the shot :(

I've done that before with a van full of blokes behind me. And it was a proper gush that came out too. Soaked the arm of my jacket. Good thing I don't smoke. :p

I wouldn't worry about it, a couple of months back I saw a guy in a nearly new beemer, eyes fixed on the Cost / Litres display with petrol splashing all over his shoes

EDIT- Pete- I thought I spotted your motor in B&Q a few weeks back but wasn't sure.

Haha, I learnt what it meant when the pump handle clicked. First time I tanked my car I was wondering why the lever kept clicking cue me being soaked with petrol

What a tool, worst I have done was in my parents Zafira. Went to fill it up, got out, locked it which I had always done and then proceeded to scratch my noggin trying to work out why I couldnt get the filler cap open. Luckily it was fairly quiet although a mate who worked in the filling station made good use of the microphone to mock me.

Apparently I'm a bit quick for her, despite her doing higher speeds down the same roads most of the time :p

All mums are the same I guess.

Up for a Norwich meet any time now, will be a little bit younger than you folk, though!

We guys like 'em young.

Is it normal for insurance on let's say a group 2-4 car to be nearly £2k? For someone nearly 20 and had thier licence for over a year?

I gave up on a car ages ago because all the quotes were stupid.

The actual drive is so much nicer than the diesel of the corolla, so much more responsive. NSL roads are a tad...less refined, though :D It's purely the gears. Having to really move into neutral, then into gear rather than just pushing up or down is a different experience. Think it was heightened by the fact I had no indicators or brake lights for at least half the journey!

My first Mini had a dodgy synchro in second, so I had to learn heel and toe in order to put the revs on whilst braking AND changing gear. Good fun! I think a Norwich meet is in order fairly soon.

Definitely! Had my first drive out on my own and with friends tonight, really liked it!

Was in tesco for 10 mins (last min mothers day shopping), came out and had an Eastern Mini club leaflet on the car! brill stuff :)

It will be a long time before I try that. The embarresment if anything went wrong would be too much. :p

Mum would've been confused if you'd tootled, she insisted on coming out to see that I was a safe enough driver. Apparently I'm a bit quick for her, despite her doing higher speeds down the same roads most of the time :p

Unlucky - her coming with you on your first solo drive :(.

My Mum's the same, I drive too fast for her despite sticking to all the speed limits *cough*most of the time. Can't resist a bit over the limit on the country lane towards our house. :p

There's no chance my Mum, or anyone's coming with me on my first solo drive when I pass (test on the 27th of this month :D).

Hopefully I can make the same thread as you on Friday ;)

Reminds me, I have to find out how long my insurance has left on the Golf, hopefully doesn't run out any time soon. Driving lessons have eaten my money a bit.

And I on the 7th... although I doubt it.

My Mum will not set foot in my car again once I pass, and most certainly will not tell me I drive too fast. She reguarly does 50 in a 30 coming out of the petrol station just down the road.
