Passwords - how do you manage them all?

I must have around 20-30 accounts, all online with various forums, retail websites, email addresses, etc. And for each one I try to have a different password, it's not always possible though when I've quickly signed up for something to come up with a new unique password on the spot and then trying to remember it.

How do you manage to remember all your passwords, do you use the same one for everything, use a keyword for each one as a basis with some characters to identify the account it's for? Are there any good websites that someone can use to test their password, I know when you sign up for google mail, it gauges how secure your password is?

Personally I have all my passwords written down in a notepad I keep at home, they all have the same theme, with upper and lower case letters with numbers mixed in. It can be a pain in the ass, when an account online only allows you to have 8 characters as a password, and you can't use the theme you've used for all the rest.

I keep all my passwords on an 8Mb SD card in a text file. When I need a password, I just slot the card in and cut and paste. Most of my passwords are 64 characters too, so there is no feesable way of remembering them without a photographic memory.

Easy question and answer, just set everything to "password".

Make sure it is all lower case and has no numbers or punctuation to make it easier to remember.

:p

I have 5 different passwords I use. Depending on what the website is for depends which I use.

I'd like a way to store them but don't want to be recording my internet banking passwords without knowing it's very secure.

Serious?!

I use a different password from everything. All of them are random characters and symbols so there's no way of remembering them.

I also keep them on all in a file on one of my external HDDs.

Yeah. My emails are 64 characters. A load of the online shops I use are 64 characters and then it goes down in character lenght depending on the online store and the character lenght it allows. I use password generator everytime I need a new password.

So they all go into a text file. Then when I need em, I pop it in and cut and paste. It's just a habit I've gotten into. I think it's crazy people still use one password for multiple logins.

On the long password my old friend back in Highschool used to do his entire password from the numpad in like 2 seconds.

It was 30 numbers long like :o

Do you shop at the Tin Foil Hats store? ;)

They are all the same, I just add a character or two at the end which are relevant to the application, however most of them are the same.

I have 3 passwords i use. Whenever i sign up for things i just randomly put one of the 3 in. So whenever i try to log into stuff the second time i just try all 3 until one works. After that i tend to remeber them.
