PATIENCE - IF PLANNING TO BUY A 50 SERIES..........

The chatter has been definitely subdued for this release, even from the more vocal nV mouth pieces you'd expect to see hype messages and videos at this point.

There's simply a lot of pent up demand. There really hasn't been a lot for ethusiasts to "waste" money on of late save the 9800x3d which has been out of stock for the most part. And although a bit frumpy and she expects you to buy her fancy jewelery, the 5090 is essentially the only girl worth asking to dance at this prom. The cool girl (9070xt) is sitting outside in her car smoking and will, as usual, show up right as the party's over and you've already committed :)
It's always the case isn't it with AMD always 2nd to the party, They could have cleaned up this gen if their shmabolic releases ever went to plan and they actually released on time and the price was right however these 2 companies are price rigging the market and have been for some time now.

About time both were investigated for price fixing their products.

I personally find it hard to believe there will be more demand than when the 40x series launched, There was a far bigger uplift on performance last gen, This gen looks MEH.

I imagine many of those 3090 owners needed time to rebuild their bank balances.

AMD make perfectly good graphics cards.

Will their new GPU even come close to the 4090?

OCUK Hits the Worldwide prime time, with article made from this post. (Videocardz)

Can't see the Astral 5080 selling out that quickly if it's £1800 or some silly price.
Astral 5090 was listed on US Partpicker earlier (backed up by store listings until they removed them) at $2800. Prices of other Asus and MSI cards were eye watering too

Good luck to everyone trying to get one. Gonna wait for the 6090 myself, not really impressed with the 5090 and not worth the bother to sell my 4090 and replace it.

Also, almost no games im interested in that are coming out anytime soon that will ‘challenge’ my 4090. So pretty easy decision.

I appreciate this is a hardware enthusiast forum so I'm probably very much preaching to the wrong choir here.

There seems to be this obsession with having the best, it's almost like some kind keeping up with the Jones's or something.

Fine, the highest spec AMD card isn't as fast as the Nvidia ones, no it doesnt have frame generation or any other of those marketting gimics that the like of Linus keep spinning and people keep buying into.

For the sake of A. not going through any of that hassle or stress of trying to pre-order, and B. Being perfectly happy playing most games completely fine on my AMD card, I can quite happily give Nvidia a wide birth and keep my money in my bank account.

They are a greasy company anyway, they dont care about GPU sales, they are riding on investsments at the moment, they only need the hype and people buy into it, the shareprice increases and the thing snowballs, right now Nvidia can literally do nothing and sail on in to the sunset.

I'm not saying saying AMD are saints either but as a consumer they have options for (comparatively) reasonable prices.

And lets face it, a lot of people who buy these latest cards end up playing the likes WoW on them anyway.

But people need to get a grip, this is a piece of electronics to pay games on. It's like those sad gits that camp outside of apple shops in tents for the latest launch of whatever Iphone, I mean seriously?

Same here.
I’ve got £2500+ put aside for a 5090, but I’ve kinda lost the enjoyment I once had for gaming, so it’s an easy decision not to get one.
I’ve just bought a new 65” TV and Blu-ray player thingy and I’ll use the rest of the money to lob down a new carpet in the lounge.
Seems far more sensible to keep my 4090 and do better things with the money rather than chasing a few extra FPS.

We have a leak amongst us boys. What do snitches get?
