PATIENCE - IF PLANNING TO BUY A 50 SERIES..........

My advice is if your building a new rig, do not sell your current GPU until you have the replacement in your hands

People planning to buy 5090s:

Tbh once reviews hit showing small performance over current gen, demand will not be as big. But with such small inventory, they will sell out.
Definitely. Then the news outlets will tout the 5090 as very successful and in high demand, just because they sold out.
Not taking into account the true demand is capped by the low stock.

What could be the reason for such low launch stock?

Late manufacturing start or is this all part of the Nvidia launch plan?
Both perhaps. Launches of GPUs are always questionable tbh. But Jensen himself said supply was good in the CES keynote, which is the funny part. i reckon AI got to his head and he applied MFG to the GPU stock leaving the factories.

Hi there

So in just over a weeks time you will be able to order a 50 series GPU.
I can tell you now:
5090 - Mega tight (single digits at present, maybe double for launch)
5080 - Very tight (few hundred)

We are expecting greater demand than 40 series, but with the launch just prior to CNY and lots of other rumours circulating initial waves of supply are poor and will probably take some time to build up. So the stock we have will be made available from the launch via the webshop but I know what we have is likely to last only seconds, minutes at most.

We will also be trying to limit how many pre-orders we take, we will take some pre-orders but not thousands as we want to ensure customers get realistic expectations and are not waiting months.

So in short your going to need to be extremely patient, I feel and keep a watchful eye on all resellers and NVIDIA's own shop for stock drops and buying what you can find as there is a huge amount of pent up demand this round especially with thousands of people buying 9800X3D's and planning upgrades around that CPU, OcUK alone has sold and shipped 5000+ 9800X3D's already.

My advice is if your building a new rig, do not sell your current GPU until you have the replacement in your hands and if you don't have a GPU yet, then maybe consider buying something like an RTX 3050/3060/4060 to get you up and running at least.

To put it simply patience and expectations need to be realistic if the UK has say 10,000 cards and 500,000 people want one, well it is going to take time so plan ahead and also act like adults.

I shall try and keep these forums updated with stock drops with heads up on the site etc.

Do not call Sales or Customer service for any info or trying to place orders, it shall be strictly via website only and all information will be posted on forums and on product display pages for the products as and when we have it. :)

As always good luck for next week, but plan ahead now for potentially not been able to get a card just yet, so be sure to have a GPU to keep you going until you have your new one in hand. :)

Also remember our check out guide for fastest checkout process, debit/credit card, DPD next day. DO NOT USE Paypal, Amazon or Finance:
Jesus .....ive been a bit stupid, ive sold my 4090 to a friend of mine cause it was desperate for one and I wanted to be nice , then now im realizing im likely not gonna get one at launch...im doomed ,at least my friend is happy

I personally find it hard to believe there will be more demand than when the 40x series launched, There was a far bigger uplift on performance last gen, This gen looks MEH.

Yeh I find that hard to believe as well.

Best not to feed into the hype. Sometimes the expectation of demand/shortage leads to exactly that....it's just a self fulfilling prophecy.

I don't see why anyone with a good 4xxx card is going to be that desperate to get one of these apart from very rich people for which money is no object and want a 5090.

For everyone else, what is there to be excited about that you can't wait a few months for? A ~20% uplift in raster and some new frame gen tech that will take a while to be implemented in loads of games? Meh.

I imagine a large part is to proping up the FOMO and prices.

The scarcity makes it seem like a hot product you just have to get before everyone else, and that also helps them keep these inflated RRPs.

It just becomes a vicious circle, which would stop immediately if everyone just managed to hold their nerve and just not bother to buy one for a few months.

Never going to happen though as people need their consumerist fix/shot of dopamine to distract them from the terrors of human existence/consciousness :p.

It amazes me how wilfully incompetent Nvidia are at every launch of what they know will be a high demand product. A flagship GPU, the fastest gaming GPU ever and there's enough inventory at launch for a few people at most.

I get they don't give a hoot about us gamers, i just wish they'd knock off the theatrics every launch. There is all this fanfare and then it turns into a paper launch in all but name. It's not like the launch date snook up on them and it's a surprise. If they wanted to supply the channel with stock they would, we know they won't because there is far more profit to be had elsewhere. No one is surprised by that, just be honest about it.

I'd personally planned for a 5090 + X3D upgrade plus all the trimmings this go around because it's a hobby i love and its costs largely gets a pass from me. After foolishly getting caught up in the hype all over again i just can't be bothered now.
