PAYDAY 2

Anyone bought any of the new heist DLC's? I've not played for a while so I have no idea if they're good or not. Would anyone recommend?

Depends how you value your money really...

I loved PAYDAY 2 originally but the more they've milked it the more it's turned me and my group off of the game. The weakness of the new "content" and ridiculous overall prices they're charging for it all are just too much

Seems to be the way of things these days though - even the mighty TF2 is starting to show signs of switching to this more annoying semi-freemium type of model... the hats and stuff were a little un-needed though ultimately harmless but now they seem to be trying to introduce more financially gated challenges and modes etc. doesn't sit well with me

I see... Thought I'd ask before purchasing because my steam community feed just fills up with people buying the DLC on day of release.

Couldn't have put it better. It's like they can't see they're damaging the game for most players. Yet if clowns are still purchasing DLC then good on Overkill I guess.

I last purchased Alesso heist and that was just an advertising DLC, with a few interesting bits. The Golden Grin on my crew's recent first attempt took little over an HOUR to complete! We were just so bored with it.

After Hoxton's Breakout, everything has just gone downhill.

Played a bit of this with a friend and found it fun, but was annoyed at how you needed to place your mask on before you could do anything. That and my phone jammer never seemed to work!

There is a skill/perk that allows you to do stuff before putting your mask on.

I'm still playing this buy do find it a bit dull sometimes, I only ever play a couple of the earlier heists as well.

Depends what DLC you already own, the game anniversary is due mid Aug so most people are expecting a decent sale (50-75%) on dlc and game at this point. I will look to get my missing dlc at that point.

Note that you do not need to own the dlc to play the maps / hiests. You only need to own it to host.

Oh sweet, wasn't aware of the sale. Thanks for letting me know, I'll get my wallet ready :P Regards the maps/ heists, I already knew about those but thanks anyway :) I kind of gave up on the game after the first few months of release (I pre-purchased the game) and haven't really touched it since. Not even sure what DLC I own apart from the odd Humbe Bundle mask + Alienware promo for the mele weapon.

The game has been destroyed from within in the space of just a few days so I uninstalled last night. I had played a 517 hours and reached Infamy 6 and had a blast all the way. The developers in my eyes were amongst the best I'd seen supporting a game they loved...until (I believe) their owners Starbreee forced a massive change of direction.

To sum it up, Overkill have gone the Pay2Play ala CS:GO/TF2 route with the most recent Crimefest. After all the community have done to promote the game they got screwed over with microtransactions.

All weapons including DLC ones have been hugely weakened in order to make the new weapon skins that carry stats more attractive. PD2Stats is now dead because the API's that it used have changed. This has also affected UI/Gameplay mods like HaxHud and GoonMod.

I won't go into the details because it's being covered heavily on gaming websites below.

Suffice to say that key members of the Overkill team like Simon Viklund and Wolf have left.

Now this person has appeared on 4Chan or whatever the board is and seems to be an employee hinting at worse to come. His/her predictions were true about the microtransactions so... The game has just imploded on itself massively.

Yep, I un-installed last night as well (though I hadn't played in a while anyway as the masses and masses of DLC were leaving a bad taste in my mouth)...

A shame as the game itself was pretty good fun before all this started, I doubt they'll be able to convince a single person to buy PAYDAY 3 if there ever is one now

@Kainz, that's /v/ the Video Game board. But yes it's on 4chan. Quite often employee's or owners of business's and games post on /v/. The owner of that igar.io or whatever did a few times.

Kainz the game was destroyed several months ago hence why I stopped playing it.

This was my go to game when it was released. I played almost every day with my buddies from MordorHQ. They started releasing patches thus dramatically changed the game mechanics. Even though it was for the better as the game was incredibly easy and not even a challenge on the highest difficulty they did it so frequently that I couldn't keep up with the changes.

Then the DLC happened and I saw how it fragmented not only the game but the player base. That is when the cracks started to appear, some were cosmetic and some were game breaking like the weapon dlc. That's when I knew it was becoming like a glorified p2w model and gave up with the game. I followed the game for a short while and it got worse but now what they are doing is driving a nail through the game's coffin.

David Goldfarb was meant to be the saviour but when he left the studio he probably gave them a long term agenda (which he picked up from EA during his Battlefield days) so Almir and company knew which way the game was heading. They had the choice to say no but instead they adopted this stupid microtransaction ******** and ran with it.

NSFW disclaimer as Jim Sterling swears a lot.

Well... **** that.

It was only the other day i was saying to my friends how much i liked them and the game and Overkill were great with the community etc. Now Starbreeze just wants money, **** the gamers.

Yeah I know where you're coming from. My crew and I finally stopped during the Hype Train event or when the Infamy update was added, whichever was sooner.

The new maps kind of sucked too. The Hoxton FBI raid map was rather dull compared to Hoxton Breakout and the Diamond/Museam map was poorly used AI/spawn wise. When Clover was added as DLC, It was clear what was coming.

My crew and I had a lot of great memories with the game and it's sad to see Overkill go in this direction.

Anyone played the new Point Break heists?

Yeah I thought they were really good - the bit where you bend over and Overkill give it to you real hard right in the wallet sort of ruined the ending though

p.s. In case not already obvious I haven't and won't ever be playing it, uninstalled this garbage game months ago now

Yeah I have played them few a couple of times, didn't buy them so only playing them in puns. They are enjoyable though, worth a look if you still play
