Paypal question

Hey fox,

I know someone has already mentioned it but I think I may have fallen victim to the same sort of thing.. I just went to list something (I have 52 transaction 100% feedback) and it said that a payment of more than $100 will get held for 21 days until the buyer claims the item has been delivered, or leaves positive feedback. Because I have a "limited transaction history" of less than 100.
So it sounds like your seller has your funds stuck in "pending" in his account and can't access them, even though he has done nothing wrong, and won't be able to until 21 days..

You're forced to use Paypal as well due to Ebay rules, certainly in most sections and always if your feedback is below 100.

Its totally awful, although you don't HAVE to use it, you just have to list it as a method.. I just had to relist as it got removed because I stated I didn't accept it.

I hope people start using the new direct bank transfer system which went in a few weeks ago, (2 hours transaction time on up to £10k) as its far more secure as you're covered by the banks security. With paypal the banks won't have anything to do with it because the transaction goes through a 3rd party and they don't have full visibility of it.

I had to pay 40p on a £4 sale.

Whats the point.

Grrrrr I stated in the sale bank transfer preferred but nooo both paid with paypal.

Shame, I can't post till friday anyway so they could have saved me £1.

Oh well.

keep us posted fox, I hate paypal

What's the typical bmw owner bit all about?:p

Read one of my posts where a reply of his can be found. He goes into some sort of bizarre anti BMW rant :p

And typically the negative feedback box never gives you enough space to actually explain anything.

Right so if it has been held for this reason thats his problem and not mine, right?

His feedback is... 1 positive.

Right - Paypal is holding the payment till you're happy. If you cancel, or don't leave positive feedback, he doesn't get paid, and you get your money back....

So even when I receive the item, if I recieve it, I cannot negative him over the whole experience because if I do he wont get paid?

Had another message from him this morning. He is convinced I have deliberately sent him a 'held payment'.

Get him to contact paypal or do it yourself and forward him the message.

He'll get paid but only after 21 days, as paypal will only let him have the money if you leave positive feedback or acknowledge its been delivered. If neither of these happens, he won't get the cash for up to 21 days.

Because of this totally awful paypal policy, it throws an unnecessary risk into the equasion for both parties. Why should the seller let go of his goods when he has £0 and paypal "assume" he's dodgey? on the other hand why should you wait when you've paid, and the cash has left your account?

Don't know about anyone else here, but I certainly wouldn't ship anything of any value with a "pending" payment, I want the cash home and dry before I do anything..

Ha ha what a mug!

I'd show him this thread :p

He's effectively accused you (a total stranger) of being a thief, a liar and generally an all round untrustworthy ****, yet still you're trying to reason with him? You must want that item real bad to let him trample your name like that.
