Banded nhs staff are supposedly about to receive a 5.5% pay offer as soon as todayNo pay rise this year (NHS) but the unions got us an approx. 5% payrise last year which was back-dated over 4 months. This caused me to pay student loans for the first time of £118 due to me going over some sort of yearly threashold, even though I'm only on a band 3, 30 hours a week. Recorded message said last year that I had to wait until this year to get the £118 back. Phoned back this year and said I needed to create an account with the SLC (Student Loans Company). Created a user name and password, but it then asked for a secret answer. But what was the secret question? Not a sniff of what the secret question was e.g. mother's maiden name or first school or first pet. Fat load of use that was! Had to phone up SLC, pressed around 5 or 6 options, waited 15 minutes, and they were like, "oh no, there isn't a secret question on this account". Password and secret question email sent ok and then I got into my SLC account ok. Now put in an application for the 2023-24 £118 refund. SLC does this deliberately to make sure that most ex-students don't get their refunds due to going over a treshold due to 5% payrise (read: under-inflation payrise!)
Yep, same for us. It's not unusual that why don't find out until November. We were meant to get our payrise in April but our union is still negotiating it!

STRB also returned 5.5% for teachers that the government looks like they will accept.Nice! Would be nice if this was across the board of Public Sector too
25%!!! I wouldn’t mind a 25% pay raise, you would normally have to leave and join somewhere else for that kinda raise.25% this year. Bit of a panic in the company losing experienced staff it seems.

We've just got more detail on pay rises for public sector workers.
· NHS workers and teachers will get a 5.5% pay rise
· Armed forces personnel will get a 6% increase
· Prison service worker will see a rise of 5%

In total it will cost £9.4bn. Two thirds of this will be funded by central government, while the rest will be found from within departments from savings.
