Payraise.. how much do you expect? how much did you get?

Yeah. I've just never worked anywhere that wasn't April to March. Also always been paid monthly even in my teens working supermarkets.

With the budget announcement I expect my pay rise and bonus next March to be zero. I'll get the company wide bonus though which will probably be a few percent at best. Ah well.

Ours is October to September.

The money was coming from a government scheme offering £400 per Charing receptor. Basically free if you choose a few cheaper units.

Should have supported it and picked up a cheap 2nd hand leccy car (£10,000) free commuting.

Even if they were not using a government scheme a few thousand one of cost is much cheaper than even a tiny salary increase across the board.

Instead of moaning about it -should have taken advantage.

Don't think they can just let you charge for free at work as it would be classed as a benefit in kind.

Only know as my brother works at an incinerator that actually produces electric which could have been used to offer charging but it got shot down as it got very messy with how to implement the tax on the benefit in kind

2% to match inflation if you’re lucky, especially since most businesses now need to pay 1.7% extra NI per employee and take the 6.7% hit if they have staff on NMW.

It is starting to get a bit worrying as government are raising minimum wage by huge chunks but employers are not. The middle is getting squeezed. Everything is becoming close to parity to the point we will end up with skill shortages because it is just better to work Monday to Friday stacking shelves in Tesco's than do anything else.

I am watching a local firm who I used to be a manager at. I still talk to a few of them on socials. Their staff have been on strike for a month now because they are not happy with their pay offer from April this year. Even if they get what they want minimum wage will be higher next April than what they are fighting for now!

When I was fresh out of school their machine ops were several pounds more than minimum wage but years of stagnation and 0% rises are coming home to roost.

Within the next decade my job will end up minimum wage. Then what happens when you got no HGV drivers because you are better off working some mundane job 9-5 Monday to Friday!?

It is okay saying I am okay but when undesirable jobs become critical because no one will do them like bin men, nurses, teachers, police, HGV drivers etc then the basics cease to function.

I work for one of the high street banks so unsure how the budget will affect them , had some more than reasonable pay rises but the next remains to be seen and I am not going to give myself high expectations

As mentioned earlier, over the years I've managed to wrangle some good terms in one way or another, including a 4 day week, and working from home.
Getting these terms elsewhere would be all but impossible.
I too work from home three days a week out of a 4 day working week, that alone for me is worth a hefty chunk, it’s also flexible which day I have off as long as it’s not a Friday

Yeah, I figure it's already factored in and not related to the annual pay rise.
However, like you say it's a big bonus and hard for other employers to consider offering similar.

Ended up 4...75% I think.

I was vaguely paying attention this year as its the first increase in years, my wage has been frozen until the grade below caught up.

Think for me it works out at about 2% ish

Eh? I've just started a new job on exactly those terms (for a 70% pay increase) - plenty out there.
