PC and cancel culture, what are the pros and cons?

Well it's technically free but it's not enough to have in your house, is it. And no-one wants to go to public toilets all the time [or maybe they do]?

Think of it this way. Basically tampons will be similar to condoms. If someone needs some they'll be able to get some for free somewhere. Equally, if someone wants to buy some they can do so. Should toilet paper be the same? Maybe. But tampons aren't setting a precedent.

You've gotten a little confused. Tampons will now be free in public toilets throughout Scotland, whereas before they had to be bought, as is the case in the rest of the UK.

The shop assistant you encountered was referring to the 5% luxury tax that the UK Government has committed to abolishing when we leave the EU.

OK, thank you both for clearing that up.

I've had that a couple of times before, last time with an "I can get the door myself!" scolding. I just shrug it off and think what a sad individual they must be if they take offence at common courtesy. I mean, I'll hold a door for anyone rather than let it slam in their face. It's not special treatment.

I tend to find a "My apologies, I was always taught to hold the door for older ladies to pass through" works, especially when it's obvious they are clinging desperately to vestiges of their youth ;)

I told a female German amateur radio operator the other month she had a very sexy voice. She sent me a QSL card in the post (a card showing we made contact), maybe I'd better have it checked for anthrax.... :) As for door assistance, women with tattoos, piercings or pink hair are on their own, more conservative ones get my full servility.

Its a bit of an odd one. Why do I have to pay for food or water? Both are essential.

It's not actually legal to disconnect a residence from the mains water supply, even if you haven't paid the bill. So water has it's own strange form of right to access.

I don't think I've ever encountered that. "scolding" If I have, I've probably forgotten as it was so rare. Every woman from 20 - 70 has thanked me for holding the door open for them even to this very day. Including waiting to hold the door open because their husband was in a wheelchair or with a walking stick. Or the woman herself was in a wheelchair while the husband was escorting her.

At an internationally staffed office I was visiting whilst part of a training team I unfortunately held the door open for a mid-30's American lady who quite sarcastically asked "what do you want, a tip?" as she followed me through the door, and it wasn't just a poor attempt at a joke, she seemed annoyed. So in her mind, being a young empowered female meant it was OK to insult an unknown visitor and potentially cost her company money (I could have been an investor) all because in her worldview "holding open a door" for someone isn't actually a polite thing to do, it's a personal attack which says "you are too feeble to do this because you are a woman so I, as a man, must do this for you" or some such nonsense.

Thats the first, and only so far, time anything like that has happened as everyone else I have ever held a door open for has either said thanks or just said nothing. I find it sad that, under the current uber-feminism cult, expressions of good manners and politeness are being seen as attacks on the abilities of women by some.

Is the raging righties attempting to cancel the US election counted? :D

They have gone ape these last few weeks trying to cancel everyone in sight. :p

Hardly a row, Ash Sarkar's annoying but she was 100% right to call out that article, and then Burchil randomly goes for the Mohammad's wife angle.

Not much of a response from Burchil (a bit petty) but I'm assuming that it's for a number of 'islamophobic' incidents rather than just this because... it's not really Islamophobic

Serious question though, there were left wing people who voted Trump. So where does that put only "raging righties" as you put it.
