*** PC Gaming - Daily Deals Thread ***

I don't think you fully understand the concept of sale of digital media. But in all honest maybe I have understood it wrong too?

to my understanding IN MOST CASES (I add this because it does differ here and there) but sites that supply games/ game codes etc. have already paid a fee to the developer/publisher in order to obtain copies of the game to sell. They add a mark up as they see fit. Like any goods distribution!

I don't think anyone is getting screwed over here. TR is on sale in that region for that price. We paid that price. No one lost out.

Edit:

Never really looked into how the key sites work - and if what i have said is wrong then I am sorry - However my point about the specific MS store Tomb raider purchase is still valid. I purchased a digital product, not region locked, from the cheapest place I could. I fail to see how in this instance this harms the Devs?

If i paid 240.000 Shmeckles for it whilst sitting in the UK, or someone in the Ukraine did the price paid to the Devs is still the same?

you are right - the devs aren't missing out as they dont get paid on sales alone unless they have a clause in their contract. I think Foxeye is trolling a little. Its the little indie developers/small software houses without a publisher who get paid on sales but then again its relative as you dont see their games with such big price differences.

Please can we leave this thread to deals and no further debate. Go start your own thread if you have a beef about developer pay rights.

Finally some clarity. Let's put this to bed and get posting some great deals :D

Interesting, but I'd be interested in details of how it definitely works rather than people guessing. I'd be amazed if publishers sold all keys at a set price for any region in the world, surely not?

I'd also be surprised if they aren't unhappy with the situation and looking for ways to stop it, lets hope everyone isn't overly upset when they find ways to do this.

So the only way to get the Steam version is actually through the Steam store?
I have noticed Steam version on G2A was hoping to find it cheaper than £30 odd so that can't be the case.

Yep, If you buy it from Steam it still requires you to install Rockstar Social Club and launch from there, as stated on the right hand side http://store.steampowered.com/app/271590/

Pointless having to go through 2 DRM clients before you start a game.

I get that but little OCD with Steam games/screenshots etc, it's nice to have especially for a game such as GTA.
