PC gaming is back on the high-street!

Not sure if this is something you're currently doing, but maybe as part of that it could be useful to include comparisons to the consoles!

Out of interest, will this mean they're doing trade-ins for PC components as well?

Console gamer walks in: "oooh cool, that runs so much better and smoother and looks nicer than my console, how do I get that?".

Well, you need space, a desk, a mouse, keyboard, , and you need to research what machine is best for you, to pick a controller and you need to spend probably more than a console is going to cost you, but here's a range of specs, with costs and what sort of performance to expect

Fixed ;)

yes and no. where we have concentrated our efforts is to show a mid range pc from our GAME systems that can run everything really or fairly well. so the demo PC should do a lot of the talking.

on the flipside to that, there is the comparison of PC and Console but ultimately we are not there to take sales away from GAME's console sales but to attract new customers who perhaps already have a console to make the leap.

Even when GAME used to do PC stuff a lot, their range was never incredible and they never had a PC you could use in store. Having a middle of the road gaming PC capable of running most stuff at impressive settings that the public can use is a huge advantage as anyone used to playing on a console [why else would they be in a GAME store?] would have enough experience to draw their own conclusions.

Really though we have focussed on the strengths of PC gaming by highlighting games like LOL, DOTA, CSGO etc that have huge followings and are only really playable using a PC. we do include the info about AAA multiplatform games too but our core focus within game is to introduce gamers to titles they may have heard about but not had the chance to experience for themselves.

Great to see the Master Race returning to GAME! It'll be even better when you get some Elite Tier stuff in there - be interesting to see how GAME staff cope with vats of LN2 :D

Yeah the 'PC Master Race' card is incredibly annoying and childish IMO. I have both PS4 and PC and both get used. It's almost as annoying as AMD/NVIDIA fan boi BS.

I get that all the time from my friends who own consoles, despite me owning a console which I probably use just as much as my PC.

Ironically the people I know who say PC Master Race the most are console owners :p

What you've said makes a lot of sense, especially from the "not wanting to take sales away from consoles" standpoint.

if I were you I'd be sorely tempted to go full HOTAS, Oculus Rift and Elite dangerous to blow some minds!

I expect OcUK to realise this, but it is a very important point. A real range of hardware at different price ranges needs to be available to showcase. I understand that this could be a bit of a nightmare to set up in a small store, but it will help inform people of what the lowest entry point is in terms of price, without being left disappointed. I've known a lot of people that are disappointed with their "gaming" PCs, and so put them up for sale. I consistently see low end GPUs in these rigs, and it indicates to me that there's some serious expectation management needed with regards to how cheap a "gaming" PC can get before it is not fit to be named as such.

TL;DR - not only do people need to be educated about a console-beating PC not costing the earth, they also need to be aware that cheaping out on a PC is a one way ticket to disappointsville.

Cheaper option would be a comparison chart. Starting with entry level gaming and work your way up. Highlight the 5 main components, Cpu, Motherboard Gpu, Psu and Monitor/TV and their capabilities in terms of gaming, in each catagory. Use a selection of games to show how well each game plays at a certain resolution and in game settings.
The info required can be gleaned form OCUK members. 5UB could open a thread, get members to post what they have(Cpu, Motherboard Gpu, Psu and Monitor/TV) and include the settings and FPS they get for the selected games, at stock settings. This would then help any potential buyers to get a decent system within their budget. Also highlight the fact, that starting with an entry level system, also offers the potential to be upgraded when funds permit.

great news looking forward to visiting the Manchester store display after the xmas craziness that is, people will see what we have all knew for so many years :D

This is the introduction leaflet that is in stores. - We have a booklet that is being made to give richer content to the customers going into the GAME stores. We'll be refreshing and keeping content and components up-to-date.

I wouldn't would only create division with the Game group showing how superior PC is as consoles are their main market. Just let the product speak for it'self.

I Can see Game going out of buisness once people switch to pc game playing and not console i can see why you are making the move into there stores.

Looking forward to this! Teesside Park is very close to home for me (when I'm not in Perthshire for 49 weeks of the year) and the Dundee store is a short train journey away!

Fantastic :D

They've gone for the low to mid-range with the first sweep:

A sensible line-up, I reckon. If perhaps missing a gaming cube or two to move a little closer to what console gamers are used to.
We actually have another five systems which, due to an IT issue on their end, aren't showing up right now. We are covering all price points from £500 - £1700

Does this mean there will be PC Centric hardware on display? Can I playtest a Gsync monitor, for example?
The monitor on display is an Acer G-Sync and the graphics card in the system is Nvidia so yes, yes you can!

Looks good :) Nice to see the PC being marketed a bit more as the game stores were always chocked full of console stuff and little PC hardware :(

Shared it on my bookface. hopefully will come to London and the south east soon.
