PC gaming is back on the high-street!

Excellent idea and I'm sure the move will work out well for OcUK in terms of brand awareness and expansion so kudos for pulling it off.

My one criticism...the Systems on offer currently look ugly as sin if I'm honest. A better selection of case (especially at the price) could make a difference.

As others have pointed out people are not interested in Gaming on a PC compared to Console which is half the price plus most people can not even maintain there own current Laptop/PC systems how would they deal with Gaming PC? This may of worked if OCUK had been buying in to Game so the businesss is changed.

Console may be half the price but when you want to buy a game or 2 it costs you £80 odd (2 games)

When you compare that to steam sales, Cd key sites, humble bundles etc then your £80 can go a hell of a lot further. Just look at the PC daily deals threads, people managed to get Just cause 3 for £18 I believe.

I have a xbox one and have about 3 games on it due to the prices :( My steam library has 185 and counting.

Can only be a good thing that Overclockers are in the stores, may be able to educate people on that fact of bigish buy one and smaller purchases later on.

Does this mean now game has the stranglehold over multiplay insomnia you at ocuk now technically do also or is this just a move with the stores?

Normal people do not look at game prices like that I have said this for years to people it means nothing.

You then look at the hardware cost people get confused by all the spec stuff and installing different drivers none of this is needed on console you put disc in that is it.

If you had been purchasing them PC games from Game you would be paying almost the same as the consoles games this is another thing standard people see.

The other issue is Game pushes only what they make big % off (this is why main focus is pre owned) spoke with a few regional managers before and after Game ran into it's issues both stated this is one of the things they will not change.

With OCUK business on the rise as stated in these forums why did you guys not setup stores in different parts of the country then?

Certainly an interesting development and I hope it proves to be successful for both GAME and OCUK and helps to promote PC Gaming and dismiss the PC Master Race stigma.

Really like the little booklets to get your points across.

Hopefully this will get expanded so that most people don't have to go far to visit a store.

Definitely need to get some 5UB cardboard cut outs in the store windows to frighten entice customers in

The cases have been chosen based on what we expect the general clientele of GAME would like the look of. It may not be what some enthusiasts would consider to be a good looking case but a lot of those chassis sell well into the channel already, some people just like the flashy flashy shiny shiny.

all's I get from the console lads at work is how the hell you play with a mouse and keyboard??? they just don't get it.

If it succeeds or not, getting a few console gamers on to a pc and potentially a overclockers.co.uk customer for life in the process.

I think displaying games like COD would be better than displaying PC only titles imo

Pretty sure BLOPS 2k15 is included in the showcase.

have you been to an insomnia event?

when you have tripped over 500 kids all queuing to have their photo taken with some dude off YouTube you've never heard of who plays a pc game then you would think a bit differently.

Ive got 4 kids aged between 4 and 15, they have every console, ipads and gaming pc's etc they enjoy them all but they tend to use pcs the most, the 4 year old has no trouble turning on a pc and playing minecraft with keyboard and mouse, funniest thing i saw in summer when it was time for the younges at 4 and 7 to come in after playing out was asking there freind over the road to join them on a server. Your spot on with youtube too, all mine have been insomnia to meet youtubers and the 7 year old loves indiezone. Good luck i think its a great idea.

I worked for GAME till may this year and stopped due to relocating in the UK and this is amazing news! Amount of times I would talk about pc gaming to explain it and the benefits and recommend them to OCUK for pc gaming. This will be a great boost for pc gaming.

this will be a big boost for pc gaming, high street shoppers are only seeing the pcs in the purple shirt place etc and they aren't great, seeing these powerful and more affordable pcs in a game store will get them more interested

yay, now when I get dragged to Castlepoint by the missus I can look at some PC stuff. :)

I remember back in the 90's, Game in Bournemouth used to have two floors. The upstairs was all PC, Amiga, Atari and they actually had PCs there running games. Downstairs was half Nintendo, half Sega. Used to spend hours in there. I actually bought my Voodoo 3 in game! It generally sucks now and their prices are way out of line with what you get on the net.

What really winds me up is when I get dragged shopping there is nowhere interesting to go and look around any more :(

Same here, some irony that my first pc hardware pickup was in game. Before ocuk existed of course, how times change.

Here and now, as much as I enjoy driving up to stoke, id very much appreciate a click and collect at a game store more local to myself with the tie up. All in all a good move, while this might not mean that much to the audience here, branching out to the wider general populace is only a good thing, both for ocuk and pc gaming in general.

I myself was once one of those general consumers on my first pc pickup, look where it leads:)
