onlive will take over
onlive will take over
You have no factual statistics to back that up to even suggest such a possibility.
It well not appeal to PC gamers as it offers less than even current consoles.
No CD music playback, no DVD/BD no streaming your content to it . ect....
USB dvd/brdrive ?
Lan ? And of course a fast connection would be able to stream more easily, but a nationwide home to home fiber network would be handy...
Basically tv's may become mini pc's with usb ports and lan built in. Or well, onlive could be used for games etc and a htpc for anything else. It's not hard to plug in multiple things to a tv.
However, I doubt it will happen in 10 years, I don't see BT or any other data network company to build proper infrastructure instead of relying on ages old copper telegraph lines.
Having a USB port on it does not mean you can plug any USB device into it & have it work.
Besides streaming games it offers nothing else to what we already have.
Its not even i sideways move but i downgrade & the problem is the benefits are not really aimed at the user.
People can already rent games.
It offers something new to someone with a p4, 512mb ram and a geforce 4 mx pc.
There are other device on the market already. WII PS2-PS3 XBOX-360
Nope, they don't have good keyboard and mouse support, you can't customize the graphics settings. You can't mod games that easily. You have to resort to primitive methods like cd's and dvd's. You have to pay to play online in the case of the xbox. You have to buy a decentish tv for the price of a decent gaming pc to be able to even have nice graphics.
Have you read up on the Online device ?

To be fair all three consoles work on monitors assuming they have HDCP which i'm fairly sure nearly all new monitors come with.
Tell that to someone who has a 5-10yr old 1600x1200 crt and doesn't want to spend anything on a new one. Unless consoles now support high 4:3 resolutions though vga it's not good enough.
Funny! my XBOX-360 was hooked upto a 20" CRT VGA monitor at 1280x something up until yesterday.

Well you said everyone needs to get a HDTV in order to get the best graphics from the consoles. I was just pointing out that that simply wasn't true.
You can get a slightly better res on my monitor! 1440x900That would prolly be 1280x720, not exactly 1600x1200 isn't it .
Not to forget the fact that console games often run even lower reso's like 600p or 720p and are simply upscaled at any higher res.
