US: Penny Dreadful.

GoT isn't really a good example as they go overboard with it, in this weekends episode there were 3 separate scenes all within the first 30 mins. Those i noticed and felt wrong, not because they were straight or gay but because so many in such a short space of time that it felt gratuitous. They don't stand out like that in Penny Dreadful, at least not to me anyway.

I really like Penny Dreadful and I think it's one of the more interesting programs to come out for quite some. But maybe I am overly infatuated with gawping at a certain actress but by god she is supremely gawpable.

episode 2 was grim mind in season 2

but Eva Green is supremely gawpable..she really does hold the attention in every scene she is in..I think it was episode 7 in season 1...I felt I held my breath for an hour! she was so damn good

Strangely I've been the opposite to others in the thread. I really liked season 1 but I'm liking season 2 even more. I would love to see some more literary/historical figures making an appearance, like Inspector Lestrade, H G Wells or Lovecraft etc.

I'm looking forward to seeing if Ethan can learn to control when he changes

Season 2 is shaping up to be great. That episode 3 with Eva Green and the witch (cut wife) in the cottage just goes to show how much having top notch actors can raise a show.

I'm liking season 2 just as much if not more than season 1. There seems to be a lot more character development rather than just super fast paced all out demon crazyness

Also loving season 2 - they seem to follow a fairly fast-paced episode with a back-story one. Superb writing and acting.

I'm also in the camp (pun intended) that dislikes looking at men-on-men scenes and thought that was a bit too much, but that's my issue, not the shows. Not homophobic (I don't think) but I really can't watch that as it turns my stomach. Interested to see how Dorian blends back into the main story.

Yep, I am not sure where Dorian fits into the whole picture other than having his amorous ways with the majority of the cast. As for the boy on boy stuff wasn't the whole point of the Penny Dreadful's to illicit such feelings in their readership in which case they series is living up to the intention of the title.

The Episode in the cottage was absolutely excellent.

Agreed, the latest episode was just incredible. Billie Piper deserves some kind of award for her acting there, was not expecting such top notch stuff from her!

Yep, I really enjoyed it. I think Victor is in some deep trouble now. But if he comes clean to get some help from the group he is going to have to admit what he has done to a werewolf which isn't going to end all that well. Can't imagine Miss Ives will be all too pleased with his deceit either.

Still not sure where Dorian fits into it but they seem to be building up to something.

The show has its moments which makes the series worth watching. I'd like to see them delving deeper into Victorian life and emphasising just how different London was in those times(complete with werewolves, vampires and witches!).

I haven't seen mention of it on these forums, so if you're enjoying PD, then watch Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell. It's turned out to be a surprisingly good show, based upon the absurd premise of two gentlemen setting out to make English magic 'respectable'.

Great ending guess we knew it was coming, this season has really fired off all cylinders and early too.

I absolutely love this series, easily one of the best out there. The way they build it up (with enough action in between to keep you occupied) and paint the picture is top notch. It's a slow burner for sure but it's so well done, looks fantastic in HD and the character development is spot on.

Agree with the comments about Eva, there is just something about her that is on another level and makes the show more pleasurable to watch.

I thought the second season might be pap but they have a good story line with some nice developments.

Just read a comment above... bloody hell, is that Billie Piper? ****! Thought she looked familiar! Her character now....... "The Creator" what has he done?!?!
