Pentax releasing full frame(35MM) dSLR this year

Looks like the Ricoh GR has been in constant demand too.

Just bought one :) Lovely little Camera. Wanted something to slip into a pocket or bag and just carry with me.

Pentax are very underrated when it comes to Cameras, they deserve to do well with the Full Frame system.

I really enjoyed the K7 that I had for a few months a few years ago, apart from the crappy Samsung sensor. Their pancakes lenses are brilliant. More competition in the full frame market is always a good thing.

As a Pentax user I can't wait, if they can bring some of there manual focusing lens along with them as pentax really lacks long wildlife quality lense at the moment except for the 560mm and the 300mm with the 1.4 tc.

Hmm I have a Pentax scope.. so I agree.. very underestimated :D

Launching in the Spring (from my Ricoh Imaging newsletter):

Full Frame by PENTAX – Spring Debut

We are just a few weeks into 2016 and have so much to update you on already!

The PENTAX Full Frame will be making its 2016 debut this spring, so what can you look forward to? One of the many benefits offered by the PENTAX 35mm Full-Frame digital SLR camera is that your favourite high-grade FA Limited-series lenses, which you may have used since the days of film photography, can be used at their actual focal lengths. Favoured by many PENTAX camera users, the Full Frame allows you to take advantage of the imaging power of these popular lenses in digital photography!

It's unwise imo to invest in Pentax DSLR gear... their future is uncertain and their lens choices limited.

Nah,people will be fine. The same was said 10,20 and 30 years ago,so selective memory is quite interesting. Pentax is still here after decades.

Plus their lenses choices are fine since the K mount is decades old and there are plenty of lenses,in fact dozens of currently available lenses from them and third party companies.

I expect, then people will point out exotic lenses Nikon and Canon might do that 99% of all people would never buy.

Plus you need to be very careful - people said the very same of Canon in the 80s,before the EOS range was launched saying its unproven, not enough lenses compared to Nikon, etc. It all came to nought.

Pretty much the same same for Sony too and even Fuji. They will never succeed, not enough lenses rubbish, etc.

They seem to be doing quite fine.

Same for Olympus - people love their gear and they had a massive accounts scandal too. Olympus had far more chance of folding than Pentax did. Like Fuji they do a full range of imaging products,so they are somewhat diversified too.

But Pentax for some reason gets more illogical criticisms than any of the others especially since they have a far better longterm track record with their system.

Yet Sony,Fuji and Olympus broke compatability with loads of older lenses meaning you need to invest in their new mounts, and could do so at the drop of a hat,ie, the A-mount being screwed over with the progression to FE mount, and 4/3 to m4/3 meaning you need expensive adaptors which cut down on functionality too.

Olympus also totally ditched the OM mount and Fuji their earlier SLR mount too.

Pentax is also owned by Ricoh,a company which last year had $18 billion in sales, and its operating income is a few times that of Nikon,so their future is fine.

But then like I said people just like to beat on Pentax, that including someone I knew who won numerous awards for his work using a Pentax K5.

Indeed, I believe it was Pentax that have most of the 1st's in terms of camera ideas of anyone else.
Take the Christmas Competition, guess which camera/lens I used for that shot ;)
Odd how people beat on Pentax so hard, perhaps they feel threatened?

The fact that you would even think that someone would feel "threatened" in this context speaks more about your mentality than others methinks! :p

I just don't personally see them as a good option any more, and I was a Pentax user for years until I switched to Nikon. The only thing I really miss is the in-camera OS, which was excellent. In terms of IQ Pentax were also very good so I had no complaints there when I compared to my old D7000. I think Pentax certainly have some great crop bodies but I am much happier with Nikon for my uses due to the full frame bodies being so awesome, as well as the lower cost and higher availability of new and used lenses where I live.

Said in jest, besides you bit which says more about you, did you not smell a trap :p

I went for Pentax as it's fits me to a tee. In fit and finish it's a joy to hold and use.

Nikon are buttons akimbo, they're everywhere and Canon felt simplistic cheap and plasticky, for the price I'd have expected better.
